Yes, that is an interesting way of putting things. God brings us through difficulties in order that we may know Him more and have more of His character worked in us. Our afflictions, which are but for a moment, work for us a far, far greater weight of eternal glory (2 Corinthians 4:17)!!!

No. It is a test of boredom and not whacking yourself. Come on people, let's level here. Life is too long and dragged out. That's why we constantly invent ways to be distracted. Movies, technology, Internet-it will never end. Until they make a pill that allows you to be awake 24/7 while ingesting loads of constant distractions-we won't be happy and this question of faith will persist. Faith is a substituting belief in anti boredom. It is the very thing that springs hope to the notion that we are just that bored while suffering an overwhelmingly long life-expectancy. Death is a test of faith. Faith that we won't make so many improvements that we become immortal-sentenced to our own conditional hells.
The only true god is distraction-only when we are distracted do we not concern ourselves with such things as faith. Good Luck! Have fun wasting another day!

Life is to show ourselves what the consequences (good and bad) are for doing what God has told us or told us not to. God is so good that He has given us all the exact thing that made Eve eat the apple, knowing both good and evil. It was always God's desire for us to know this, just not in the way that we have come to know it.
We have been brought up in a world and taught things that are not true. God has designed the world for us to pray and ask Him for the best way to do everything it is that we do. It takes most of us to get to the hard times before we realize that we need Him. But He doesn't do it, it's us losing our path that God has intended by not asking Him that leads us into the hands of the enemy which causes these "hard times" before we go, "Wait, God help, I'm lost".
But what we have to realize is, that Jesus went through everything that we could possibly go through so that we don't have to.

By faith I assume you mean a faith in a god(s). I disagree. The only faith that is truly important is a faith in yourself and your own abilities. All of the praying (wishing) in the world will not magically make things happen for you. Hard times are merely a test of your own will and desire

that's mostly all it is - a test of faith. It's about all the things we learn along the way - but in the end we realize all things came from God and that it is God's world - and God wants true believers, not people just punching their timecards.
remember it says in the Bible that God will never put you through anything you can't handle. there is comfort in that.
Also, give yourself a little treat for a boost and read the Psalms - there's 150 and they will touch you - and James.
God Bless You!

Hebrews 11:1-3
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.''
In all.... Life is a test of a Faith :-)

If you believe that God created the entire universe, all life on earth, and created you in His own image, then it does not make sense that God would ever want you to be unhappy.
Ether God loves you, or He does not. If you love someone you do not test them. If God is omnipotent, He already knows what is in your heart. I see the smiley at the end of your question, so I am hoping that you are asking this to make people think. Good question.

Absolutely. We are brought into this world just so we can learn how to love, please and have faith in God. We learn how to pray to God through our hardships and because of that our faith grows and God is pleased with it.
Don't get me wrong God is not the one who causes us pain, that is all the Devil's work. But when you go through hardship don't blame the Lord and pray at all times and this way your faith grows and grows - for God not yourself.

Friend, Life is.... thats it. It becomes whatever u choose for ur self. If u say - test of faith, god says- so it is, if u say - fun, god says- so it is. God is always closer to us, he is the closest, please read the following and share with all aloved ones - share with all man - love all - unconditionally, no matter how they are good or bad. Its not about them, its about ur life: 4 WIVES
Once upon a time...
There was a rich King who had 4 wives.
He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to the finest of delicacies. He gave her nothing but the best.
He also loved the 3rd wife very much and was always showing her off to neighboring kingdoms. However, he feared that one day she would leave him for another.
He also loved his 2nd wife. She was his confidante and was always kind, considerate and patient with him. Whenever the King faced a problem, he could confide in her to help him get through the difficult times.
The King's 1st wife was a very loyal partner and had made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and kingdom. However, he did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her.
One day, the King fell ill and he knew his time was short.
He thought of his luxurious life and pondered, "I now have 4 wives with me, but when I die, I'll be all alone. Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I have loved you the most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?"
"No way!" replied the 4th wife and she walked away without another word. Her answer cut like a sharp knife right into his heart.
The sad King then asked the 3rd wife, "I have loved you all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?"
"No!" replied the 3rd wife. "Life is too good! When you die, I'm going to remarry!" His heart sank and turned cold.
He then asked the 2nd wife, "I have always turned to you for help and you've always been there for me. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?"
"I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!" replied the 2nd wife. "At the very most, I can only send you to your grave."
Her answer came like a bolt of thunder and the King was devastated.
Then a voice called out: "I'll leave with you and follow you no matter where you go." The King looked up and there was his first wife. She was so skinny, she suffered from malnutrition.
Greatly grieved, the King said, "I should have taken much better care of you when I had the chance!"
In Truth, we all have 4 wives in our lives ...
Our 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it'll leave us when we die.
Our 3rd wife is our possessions, status and wealth.
When we die, it will all go to others.
Our 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how much they have been there for us, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.
And our 1st wife is our Soul,
often neglected in pursuit of wealth, power and pleasures of the ego. However, our Soul is the only thing that will follow us wherever we go.
So cultivate, strengthen and cherish it now!
It is your greatest gift to offer the world.
Let it Shine!
Love
