Baha'is believe in a future 'New World Order', but this term first came into use in 1912 or so, thus pre-dating George H.W. Bush (Senior)'s use of the term by 80 years or so. My question is whether the Baha'i concept, which is all about respect, compassion, spiritual answers to economic problems, justice etc. is the light side of the "New World Order" as it is discussed by conspiracy theorists, particularly in the 1990's (in my experience anyways!) Conspiracy theorists generally describe the NWO to mean the centralization of power and wealth on a grand scale, with the rich getting richer and the poor getting dead. Oil and media company mergers are symptoms of this approaching "order", as is the increasing tyranny of our own government (USA).

I don't think the Baha'i vision has any relationship to a vision of the "rich getting richer and the poor getting dead", since we believe that both extremes (wealth and poverty) should be eliminated. Unlike the usual conspiracies, we think it should be done *voluntarily* when we realize that we are all brothers and sisters & learn to genuinely care about each other.

kepha -- not sure what the anti-abortion rant has to do with this discussion, but it appears that we are on the same side. Since life begins at conception, abortion is more than just minor surgery. And your description of the Baha'i Faith is a little simplistic.... :-)

My answer is a personal view. Bahai is a new "religion". From within the Bahai's own group, "New World Order" may means an ideal state where there all societies are loving, caring etc. But for some conspiracy theorytist, anything that looks like a movement towards the centralization of power, wealth etc, may have connection with the unseen groups who want to control the world.

Baha'i is a cult made up of peaceniks who suffer from the Masonic view of indifferentism (one religion is as good as another) or syncretism (let's all hold hands and sing around the campfire, we can gouge eath others eyes out on the Internet).

There is no greater tyranny than the latest cemetery of human cruelty, that of the unborn. A mother has the "right" to kill her own child. It can't get any sicker than this. It goes hand in hand with the contraceptive mentality. Secular non-religious stats prove how dangerous this is to the well-being of the human family.

The Catholic Church is the greatest enemy to the Dictator of Moral Relativism, and when the conspiracy theorists (I used to be one) get serious about the real conspiracy going on in the world, I'll pay attention to them.

I said "greatest", I did not say "only".
