Ok, there was a young girl (about 19 or 20) that stopped by my house yesterday. She called me by a different name I hadn't heard before, but she said that she got it from my e-mail addy. She then told me that she was looking for her dog that got away and asked if I had any tea that she could have so she could calm down. I got her some and while the water was warming up and while she drank it, we talked. She said that she is part Indian and is spiritual.? She asked if I was blind in one eye. I told her yes, caused from years of having diabetes. She said that I will have vision back in that eye by the end of the year. There is NO way she could have known I was blind as no ne in the area knows this. She also asked if I had blond hair and blue eyes at one time. I told her that I have always had dark eyes and hair. I showed her a picture of my sister when she was very small, taken with her dad and our mother. She said that this guy was supposed to be my dad and that I was supposed to be

I have a few things that I would like answered. First.. define cult.
Why is mormonism a cult? find the definition first.
It is said that the LDS church (along with other religions as well) is because people's lifes are controlled or dictated. Which is not right.
Isn't religion voluntary? especially in this country?
If someone doesn't like living in the United States... they move right? we have laws in this nation but we are not opressed. we are free to make our own decisions. Isn't that the same with religion? Why is mormonism different?

Please no arguments about doctrine.
I know about the church. Mormons don't worship the devil and force others to do it. lol.

In fact, another one of my questions was, Has anybody visited thee 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake city Utah? what was your experience with the people there? I am sure that some mormons tried to convert alot of the visitors.... there are people in every religion that are zealous like that.. but aside

Catholic wife discovers Catholic husband's 11 mo affair. She informs entire family, has him visit priest for absolution & cut-off affair.

Husband tells other woman (OW) he cannot divorce wife (they have 2 children) because of duty & moral absolutes (i.e., no divorce). He loves wife, but is not in love with her. He loves OW, but cannot divorce wife. He is sorry. No contact for 2 - 3 mos.

Husband reinitates contact with OW right after he & wife attend "Retrovaille" weekend (Catholic-based 'marriage encounter' for troubled marriages) which teaches principal that "Love is a decision." He informs OW he has decided to love wife & is trying very hard to do so, but feelings for OW have not changed. He is sorry. More time passes: 2-3 mos.

Husband again contacts OW that feelings for her have not changed. Says love for OW is non-decisional, meaning he feels it without having to try to love. Would like to see OW again.

What will happen to him in after-life if this continues?

Following up, the debate from 500 years ago was on heliocentric universe, now 2006 its a debate from 1920 on evolution, with evolution clearly winning and the future is obvious: adam and eve will be seen as alegory.

So my question here is what will be the debate in 500 years. Will my descendents be saying "the jesus resurrection is allegorical"; and questions like "What happens to Fundamentalist Christianity when it is proven that the jesus resurrection goes against the laws of science".

The thing regarding second coming, hasn't this been a debate since 70CE regarding the temple of jerussalem falling?

This is something that I just would like to know about, since that most Christians think it to be a Pagan fairy tail. If Atlantis as Plato described it was real; what would that mean to the Christians here?

I do not mean any offense by this question, but being a former Christian I find it a bit perplexing to think that if it is/was real it would re-write history as we know it. And since the story of Atlantis is not in any way a re-telling of the flood story: How would the Three Great Religions (Christianity, Jewdisim [sorry if I am missspelling this], and Islam) of the world take its discovery?

If yahoo answers was around 500 years ago, I would be banging at my keyboard the following:

What happens to fundamentalist Christianity when it is accepted in science that there is a heliocentric solar system.

Would there have been people who would have banged away no the bible says x, y, and z about the Earth is in the center, and there are loopholes to the Theory of Heliocentric solar system?

Are there any fundamentalist Christians who believe as they did 500 years ago, that the Earth is the center of the solar system?

In 500 years, in 2506, will there still be Christians who believe the literal Adam and Eve?

Fundamentalist Christians say God made the Earth. They say there is no proof of evolution.

What happens to their faith when such proof is found that science views evolution like it now does the heliocentric solar system.

The church interpreted the Bible that the Earth was the center of the physical universe. Then the interpretation was no it means center of his universe not physical universe.

If such proof of evolution, a "missing link" was discovered, and the press confrence was had, would fundamentalist Christianity have to acknoweldge the adam and eve mythology is allegory?

I realize that this is a generalization.
On very rare occassions, you may see one or two of these people who can actually spell and form a coherent sentence. However, the vast majority are unable to use logic or stick to the subject at hand. Also, is it possible for a religious fanatic to have a debate without throwing bible quotes around?

Do you feel that a lot of people who beleive in a specific religion do not think about their beliefs?

Is it dangerous to have such dogma available to people, and to have a lot of people blindly following what their parents or community believe and not think about things before investing so much faith and belief in them?

Just want to get you guys' opinion on this. Thanks!
