After seeing Passion of the Christ, I have a desire to learn that language I have also had an interest in learning latin. (used briefly in Braveheart)
I actually applaud Mel Gibson for making the languages used in Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto known. I have always loved foreign languages. Where can someone find out about more so called "dead" languages. Enya and Clannad sing in Gaelic, from my understanding, which is not really used anymore. J.R.R. Tolkien was a master linguist (spelling) who developed his own elvin languages for Lord of the Rings.
Other than a library which I find to be NO help at all.. how does one find out about these and other languages not used anymore.

Is this correct:

"But her lips ARE not the most beautiful THING on her, neither IT IS her dark EYES, nor her protruding cheeks..."?

You know, because of the plurals and singulars?
I also don't know if I should put "nor" instead of the "neither" because I already have one negation in "But her lips are not the most beautiful thing on her"
Is there maybe some better expression instead of "the most beautiful thing on her" or it is OK?
Sorry, and thank you!

When I lived in Germany in the 70's I used to pass a big building with these words in huge neon lights, one on each side of the building. Two where red, one yellow and one green. They said FIXBUTTE, FIXMINZE, FIXMILLE and FIXMALVE (I may have spelt them wrong, it was a long time ago)
I'd love to know what they were, can anyone tell me?

I'm translating a literary text from my language into English. I need an adjecitve to go with the noun "lips" and to mean attractive, sexy or something like that. In my language it is literally "deathly dangerous lips" or "lips dangerous to death" :-) but I need something which is more in the spirit of the English language. Thanks in advance!

"To pass the street"
Can I say it and, if I can, does it have the same meaning as "to walk down the street"?

Can I say "slender physique" or "slender stature"? Do these sound naturally considering that I'm translating a literary text from my language into English?

Further to a recent question about similar words for yes and no in different languages, "νάι" (pronounced "neh") means "Yes" in Greek, whilst in two neighbouring countries, Macedonia and Bulgaria, "Hе" (transliterated "Ne" and pronounced the same way as νάι) - means "No"; confusingly both "νάι" and "Не" are likely to be accompanied by a nod. (s a matter of interest, the word "ne" (still pronounced "neh") also exists in 2 other countries neighbouring Greece, Turkey, where it means "what" and Albania, where it means "We, us". Does any one elso know of other instances of similar words having opposing meanings in contiguous regions?

I moved to Puerto Rico over a year ago. When I got here, I knew NO spanish. Now, I hear people speaking and I can pick up on what's going on. I know a little spanish but I don't speak spanish to anyone (not even my husband) I am terrified of sounding ridiculous, so I make everyone speak english to me. When I go to the bank or the store and need something, I will wait on someone to get someone that speaks english. I can't even bring myself to say Gracias. Does anyone know why this is? Will I ever get over it? How do I speak spanish without making a fool of myself? PLEASE HELP.

I have visited all the major towns and all parts of India , USA, USSR, Middle East countries and UK, SA Etc... In practical I have seen the Bengali girls are the most well figured , tall, smart, bright complexion with dazzled eyes mathches with their round face, after all they are beautiful. What is the real reason behind it, food, geography, culture, education , civilization, language and living style ? German & USSR girls are in second position but their tone does not sound sweet like Bengali girls.
