I am translating a Guatemalan text by Miguel Angel Asturias, and it describes how the man had "el pelo canches de los chamuscones". I can't find a definition for the word "chamuscones" anywhere. Can anyone help me polease?

I believe it means scorch marks.
Perhaps he has blotches from over-exposure to the sun, as many of us do?

Chamuscar is a synonim of BURN, especially when u touch something hot, with ur hand.
But also it is used when u do something wrong, and then, u regret of it. Don't know how to say it in english, but i'll give u an example:
"Dije que mi amiga estaba gorda, pensando que no estaba aquÃ, pero sà estaba, asà que me di una chamuscada".
"I said mi friend was fat, thinking she wasn't here, but she was, so i got a chamuscada"
It means that something was embarasing.

I found this:
Chamuscar: (verb) to burn something in the outside.
Chamuscado: (adjective) with signs of being contaminated by certain vices, ideas or passions.
I think chamuscones must be some burning marks or scars of some sort. hope this helps.

chamuscones is like "burnings" since the verb "chamuscar" or "quemar" mean burn. i hope it helps!
