I'll get everyone started with some examples...

- " Gone Missing" - doesn't this sound strange? "Bob has gone missing again".
- "Them are" - Them are some nice lookin' pigs you got there Jeb.

Give it a shot...

How rude is it to use the informal instead of the formal version when addressing an adult?

Can anyone give me an equivalent situation in English?

I am writing a short note to a friend of a friend but I do not know how to write in proper spanish. I don't want to use the free translators like babel fish because it isnt right. But here is what I want to say;

" You are a great musician and I look forward to seeing more of your music. My new year has started off to a great start. Thanks for asking, and what about you? "

& What does this mean:

" Que tal chulita,
Gracias por la petición "

At first she would only throw up her formula but now she throws up when breast fed, given water, and juice. She seems to be in pain but the ER said she was just "overeating". Even after following their advice and decreasing her servings it's still happening. I'm worried it may be serious, please help!

My sweetie and I are planning a trip to Rome soon. For Valentine's Day, I bought him a travel book about Rome. I also want to give him this kind of sappy "poem" I wrote. I used BabelFish to translate it from my English to Italian. I want to know how accurate it is. Can anyone with decent knowledge of Italian translate this back to English and if there are errors let me know what I can change to correct it? Here it is:

I'm preparing for a really heated meeting I'm having next week with a teacher of mine at the request of the principal, cause he wants to go absolutely mad on her after what she did to me. Long story. I'm guessing there's going to be a lot of shouting between her and me while we each tell our versions of the story. Anyway I want to be witty and say something slightly rude to her, with only her and I understanding it in the room. And if she says to the Principal something like 'did you hear that,' I can easily deny it or say that I didn’t know what it meant. Please don't think I'm a bad person, if you knew what she had done you’d be as mad, besides the principal on my side, so that has to show that she was the *****. She's been a ***** for 4 years or so now with me, and now is the time for revenge…

We have been through a lot of difficult times these past six months, but then I think of all the wonderful things that we have done together and the bad things just do not seem to matter anymore. No matter how tough things may get, I will always be by your side. If you were not worth it, I would not be here with you today. I want you to remember that I will do anything for you, just to be with you. You have forever changed me and I still can not believe how lucky I am to have someone as amazing as you in my life.

You are my heart, my soul, my life. I love you

I only have one class a week. I wish it was everyday but my schedule wont allow it. Every chance I get, I study ...learning more and more everyday. I have been discouraged because some people are saying that even when I do learn the language I wont be able to use it because spanish people in america speaks the slang and not the proper. My question is...is it true? And how long do you think itll take before I can speak and understand the language.

My girlfriend and I have been watching the Anime Fullmetal Alchemist, and we both noticed that the younger brother (Al) always refers to his older brother (Ed) as "brother". On the other hand, Ed always refers to his younger brother as "Al".

Is it a common trend in Japan or eastern asia to refer to older family members by title (i.e. brother, uncle, mother, sister, etc) and to refer to younger relatives by name? I think I've seen other shows/movies where characters do this, but I was just wanting some confirmation.
