I speak Arabic originally and English is my second language. I am translating this passage from Arabic to English and I am trying to find the terms which are usually used by English speakers. Because what I say seems not natural to an English speaker. Here they are :
1- Merciful death. That is when a person chooses to end his life because he is on life support machines and he is bored of it. Merciful death is what we say in Arabic. What is the equivalent for it in English?
2- "A disease which can't be cured from". I know it can be called a fatal disease, but what else can it be called as ?
3- "The machines which support life" . I know they are called "Life support machines" . Is this the closer term? or is there a better word ?
4- "Judicial authority" Like when something is outside a judge's lead because this is not his field. How do I say that? "Jurisdiction"??

Please stick around as I will ask more questions. Thanks alot and merry christmas. It's new year here in Egypt now

Two of my co-workers were speaking filipino, I think, and I told them I knew what they were saying. I really don't but it would be fun to call them out on at least one word I overheard. They were laughing when they said it, so I am sure it is slang of some sort.
Thanks!

My native language is English. When i speak, i somtimes stammer because i'm afraid i do not choose the most accurate word that fits within the context of the sentence. I also mess up on prepositions which make me sound funny. For example: (This is a Bush blunder but it's similar to me) "We have to work hard so we can put food ON our family." It's supposed to be food on our family's table or food in our family's stomach. I can't describe in great detail my speech problems, but i think they are not a big big deal. It's just that i plain on delivering a lot of speeches when i get older, and i need to get speaking down pat. So i'm trying to develop techniques so that i can those types of verbal gaffes. I was just hoping if it's possible, or is it because of my low intelligence. These series of questions i'm going to ask are really basic, so please bear with me.

I've been thinking about world initial pr consontal clusters. In my RP ish accent I seem, especially when using emphasis, to do some bilabial trill and then perhaps a labio-detal approximant (as the majority of my [r]s tend to be). Is this a feature noticed by others?

I have the song, and I am even listening to it right now. However, I still can't pronounce one of the words! The word is "hyacinth".....I have a heavy southern accent, so that might be the reason it is hard for me to pronounce.

Thanks for the help!

I am a student in health sciences and I would like to become fluent in ASL as it will be very beneficial to me in my career in the future (I am only a freshman in college right now). Is it too late for me to learn or will I, as an adult, still be able to become fluent? I know sometimes spoken languages are hard to learn as an adult. Also what is the best way to learn?...from a friend who is fluent, my aunt who is near fluent, my 9-year-old deaf cousin, an ASL teacher, class at a college...? Thanks for your help!
