They should have had the foresight to see that centuries later it would contain a rude word.

And for all you clever clogs out there, I know what the phrase means!

I'm looking for someone who may be willing to become a messenger pal. I'm interested in learning more about life in Latin-America, and to practise my castellano.

Or can anyone provide me with good ideas on how to go about finding a good chat room or something. It is difficult to get by with my castellano being sketchy, and most Latin-american's not being too fluent in English, or interested in chatting with someone who's a beginner at castellano.

I grew up in Germany speaking only German. My second language was Italian, but not fluently.

Then, at age 13, I moved to the USA and English became my new language. It is my dominant language now, but I still speak fluent German, but I have forgotten almost all of my Italian.

I speak and write better in English now.

So what would be considered my first language?

Is it the language you first learned or is it the language which you best speak?

Johnny Jones was sitting alone one night in a bar located in the middle of nowhere. The location of this bar is unknown, and it cannot be found except by those who already know where it is. The event that occurred that night in the bar was so alarming to the world that it became knows as J.J. and the Bar Boys.

My friend and I like to kid about what countries we live in and people speak and since I live in Kansas I want to sound redneckish when I typed her a message on myspace. As a joke of course because she's Canadian. Help me? 10 points to the best answer that sounds like a redneck in a joking way.

I've looked into atleast 50 schools here in Madrid and can't seem to find anyone teaching Turkish, the closest i've come is Arabic. I looked into areas with Mosques but that hasn't helped either...any ideas?

I saw a reference to this many years ago and believe that the suggested meaning for the first line was 'And gave birth in the open' with lines 4&3 rendered as 'de collibus, descendens' which translated as 'coming down from the hills'. I do not recall any other lines being given in the source I first saw. It seems to me that the Latin words are too similar to the subsequent English version to be a coincidence and it certainly seems more fascinating that perhaps the original may have been a Latin carol rather than,as I have subsequently been told, some secret aide-memoire to Catholic doctrine during periods of persecution.
