I'm looking for someone who may be willing to become a messenger pal. I'm interested in learning more about life in Latin-America, and to practise my castellano.

Or can anyone provide me with good ideas on how to go about finding a good chat room or something. It is difficult to get by with my castellano being sketchy, and most Latin-american's not being too fluent in English, or interested in chatting with someone who's a beginner at castellano.

Since you mentioned 'castellano', don't you want a Castilian speaker from Spain instead?

Let me try to explain: In Spain, it's referred to as castellano (Castilian-Spanish). Anywhere else, the language spoken is simply called "Spanish".

Spanish is the general term when talking about speaking the language that is shared between Spain and the Americas. BUT, when using castellano, you're specifically referring to Spain, sort of distinguishing Castilian-Spanish (your 'castellano') against the other 'Spanish' dialects.

because the british conquered North u . s . of america... and the spaniards conquered the area we call Latin u . s . of america. except for Brazil which became conquered through Portugal. In Latin u . s . of america you don´t might want to talk both english and spanish, basically the regular language, yet gaining recognize-how of english might want to be very functional and likewise study more desirable than 2 languages...
