I have a book in Japanese and I need a way to translate the symbols into words

Go to this site it is great I use it to write my Korean grandmother letters all the time, it does like 20-30 languages to and from english. http://world.altavista.com/

Machine translation doesn't work between languages that have very different strunctures like Japanese and English. You might want to try to find out if the translation already exists through your local library or on the internet.

Do you mean the whole book is in Japanese like a novel or just a random book full of Japanese symbols. Cuz if its a novel you prolly wont understand it just by using a word translation. Anyhow a good site is http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/wwwjdic.html

Just change it to English to Japanese if you want to get the translation that way or it you have a Japanese word and want it to be in English put it on Japanese to English.

Get a Franklin Bookman. You can buy different cartridges for different languages to translate for you. I have one with Spanish cartridge. Find them at Bookman.com...
