Since I know you, I do not attribute any race-baiting to your question as others have. Economy is a powerful motivator. It can make the average Republican take a hard look at the choices based upon economics. That's why nana's "redneck" family has changed their minds - along with McCain's poor choice of a VP and his reactions to the economic crisis, his promise of more wars, etc. I have a friend who always votes Republican but is voting for Obama this year. If McCain were black, he would not have a lead in one single state. Not one. Because if Obama had made the mistakes that McCain had made - he wouldn't be winning now. And if McCain was black along with these gaffes and bad policies - the race would be over. Race is a factor. The Republicans know it, but most don't want to admit it. At least they realize that racism is bad.
