my whollleeee family including grandparents, except my brother
my sister understands because her fiance and his family speak Russian all the time. One of my closest friends is Russian...and no one speaks Russian around me because they know i dont understand. ive only been spoken to in Armenian and English, and never Russian thats why i never learned.
does anybody know an easy way to learn russian
because its hard to learn by just listening to people speak the language.

The thing is that I'm writing a story with my friend, so I need some help finding names for the characters. It would be better if the names were associated with elements. e.g. water, light, dark.

I will also need their kanji just in case. Oh, and I'm completely clueless on what surname to choose by the way. ^_^'

Thanks in advance for anybody that chooses to help and anybody who even bothered reading about my problem.

I was learning German and realized how impractical it might be living in the U.S. I've realized how much is translated into French here (because of our Canadian neighbors?) It seems more practical to learn French. Any opinions on the usefullness?

Maybe not all languages, but a section for the most commonly asked about: Spanish, French, Italian, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, Tagalog, Arabic
And then maybe a general category for all others. What do you think?

I mean think about it: You get ON a bus, but you get IN a car. You don't actually get on top of the bus, right? And when you watch something ON tv, its not sitting ON it, it's IN it. Same thing with the radio. I just find it a little strange. Why is this?

I realize this is a rather vague question, so I'll try to explain: I teach English to mainly adult students, one to one lessons. They are all non-native speakers of varying levels and abilities. I want to be able to teach, one-to-one, to all levels and abilities. I try a lot of eliciting answers rather than giving, conversation practice, native culture and natural speaking methods. Anyone have any other ideas?
