I am going to visit China next year with my HS for two weeks. I believe we are going to Shanghai, Beijing, Xian, the Great Wall, and some rural locales. Should I study Mandarin or Cantonese? And how similar are the two languages? If I knew Mandarin and heard somebody speak Cantonese would I be able to understand them, would they be able to understand me?

And What software do you recomend to learn the language?

For some reason when I'm driving and someone cuts me off or something I like to yell at them in Italian and give the chin flick. It just seems appropriate somehow. But the only Italian curse words I know are 'cornutto', which doesn't seem to fit since it only applies to men and from what I understand is the kind of thing that will get you killed if said to the wrong person, and 'bastardo' and 'idiota' which just seem obvious. Can anyone tell me some good Italian expressions that would fit that situation, along with a rough translation?

When I think of my love for you
the wonder of its beauty takes my breathe away.
I cannot recall the moment in time it began,
but only the overwhelming feeling of ectasy it brought to me.

For at that moment I knew happiness.
A happiness I had never known before.
For just the thought of you gave me joy beyone belief.

The thought of being with you and being held by you was my one desire
I knew once we first met none other would ever do,
for I knew love.

I knew love as I had never thought possible in this life time.
It is a love of passion and desire.
It is a never ending need to you,
for you, only you.

When I think of my love for you
I realize I now know the true meaning of love.
I will love you as long as this life endures and beyone,
for you are my dreams, my realities.
You are my heart
You are my meaniong of true love.

I've been learning a language, and somtimes i try to read serious books, but even serious books have SLANG and idioms which i don't understand. Sure i could go head and buy books, but there's books for every little thing, it's not all in one book, example: I bought 2 books ,Idioms and Onomatopoeai. that's pretty expensive already... but then i see the bookstore has a bunch other books like HOW TO TALK ABOUT LOVE IN JAPANESE, and many others like this. .

i don't want to have to buy all the books in the store. So how do i learn if i'm not a rich person who can afford to travel to the country and stay there for years. And i don't want to have to buy videos either, as i am poor and don't like watching too much tv.

Are there any books that would have a thorough introduction to slang , idioms, and everything?

I also don't have opportunities to speak to people from those countries. So, should i just forget it and accept that i will never be as fluent as people who travel?
