I have some background in Spanish, but have not been disciplined enough to stick with the audio-lessons. Can anyone suggest a San Diego-immersion class /group that does not cost loads of $$$?

4. alma (this could be just a name, I don't know, does it have any other meanings?)

Ok heres the deal, so many people in my school argue over what the most sexiest langauge their is. Most of them say its French others say its Spanish and few say its Italian. I personally think spanish is the seciest language beacuse when i talk to my girlfriend in spanish and she loves is she says spanish is the sexiest one as well (by the way she dosent know spanish). I will just like to know what you readers think is the sexiest language. It dosent matter just tell me what you think is the sexiest languge. Thanks

I am blessed (or cursed!!) with a sarcastic frame of mind :-(( And sometimes that seeps into my questions too! And I have noticed many people here don't seem to understand when someone is been sarcastic...or ironic....


So I want to ask...

Do you understand Sarcasm and Irony? How would you define it??

Are these phenomenas cultural..or depending on an expertise in the language??

I personally wouldn't say it is cultural...despite..it being a British myth 'that Americans don't understand irony' Because I have seen many Americans you understand irony..Whilst at the same time I have come across many Brits who don't....


What do you think??? Can you explain why some people like and understand irony..and others don't

Is Irony..a good or a bad thing?? (Should I refrain from using it because not everybody understands it??)

I have never been a good speller. I always got as in math, science, and geography. I like to think that I am smart. I can read and comprehend words as well if not better than most of my peers, but I can not spell them! I went to high school and am going to college. I graduated high school at the top of my class, and am getting great grades in college, but it bugs people that I am not a good speller! Why is that? No one is perfect right! So why should I be?

Looking for an accurate count of the number of languages spoken in San Diego County. (Not just the city, but the county.)
Please provide proof. Census.gov only lists some of them, and does not provide an actual number.

I like language exchange with someone from japan, but i noticed some of them even in japan whom i talked to by voice chat, have this american accent even in japanese. Is it that they try so much to sound American and do'nt even care about their own language? But then, why would they forget their accent IN japan. it's not like they live in America. And also, why would they even do that, maybe they hate their culture? Actually some japanese i've talked to in the chats say they just hang out with Americans and do'nt like japanese.. strange.. very strange.. anyways, whatever..

I have been online for over 10 years now and it has been only in the last 3 or 4 years that I have noticed people typing in a sort of Shorthand code. I just don't see the point in it. Half the people can't read it and the rest can't type in it. so what good does it do?

I am not the best spanish student, and my accent is pretty bad. My question is, when I am speaking (or trying at least) to speak spanish, do you think that native spanish speakers are laughing at me in their head?? I know it is a kind of paranoid question lol but I always wondered. My spanish teacher said that they would appreciate that I am making an effort...but I'm pretty bad lol So if you speak another language and you hear it spoken incorrectly do you assume that person is an idiot?

This is an english speaking country. If you live here then learn to speak the language. Not an option when you go somewhere else?
Diversity is doublespeak. Become a US citizen and speak the language.

We all know that the verb in sentence shall to be conjugate according to its subject. In the sentence

"If your answer were the photos"

we have a simple subject (answer), so we shall say:

"If your answer was the photos".

Ok?

But I've read lots of texts where are written in the first form: "if your answer for that were the photos you sent, so I thank you..."

My point is: which is the correct according to the English Grammar and why?
