Here's an important tip: Unlike English nouns, Spanish nouns have gender! The adjective most agree with the gender of the noun. So first of all, you have to find out what's the gender of the noun...
If it's male, the word could be "bonito", "hermoso", "bello" or "lindo". If it's female, the word could be "bonita", "hermosa", "bella" or "linda".
This rules also applies to people's gender.

You wouldn't necessarily call a man "beautiful" so more likely you will want to use "guapo" to describe him as handsome, but for a woman, either "bonita" or "hermosa" means beautiful or gorgeous.
