I have never been a good speller. I always got as in math, science, and geography. I like to think that I am smart. I can read and comprehend words as well if not better than most of my peers, but I can not spell them! I went to high school and am going to college. I graduated high school at the top of my class, and am getting great grades in college, but it bugs people that I am not a good speller! Why is that? No one is perfect right! So why should I be?

I wouldn't worry your not the only one. there are tons of people that don't spell good. I don't spell good, I use spell check for everything. I would be lost without it.

No one is perfect. It sounds like you're doing your best and that's all that anyone can expect from you. Don't trip that you're not a good speller. It's just not your forte. Just use your spell check and forget about it. If you are serious about being a better speller, buy some software or use simple homework sites to help you.

Being a teacher, I don't think it's a big deal if you're not a good speller. Neither am I. However, you shouldn't be so lazy that you won't look up words in the dictionary or spell check things on the computer. Are you lazy too? Hopefully not.

Not being able to spell is different to not being able to write a sentence!
Everyone has smelling pistakes and it is just one of those things. We all do it at some time and there is no shame in it.
If you are talking about the way people have a go at others on here because of their spelling, it is usually because they write in slang and just show themselves as being stupid and ignorant!
When you see a sentence like this........ so i went 2 da shop rite an dis guy sed 2 me yo dood! <<< that is worth having a go at because it is just ridiculous and it takes a lot longer to read than someone who has simply mis-spelled a word.

I shouldn't let it worry you darlin, you seem to be managing very well in all other topics. Well done you x

As a value judgement against your person...no it doesn't matter. If you have been kind and compassionate along the way....that is what will matter in the long run.
so unless you plan to be an English teacher who focuses on grammer, or work for some corporation where you have to draw up documents...then and only then will i say it does matter.

don't sweat it....chances are you're just a good person surrounded by assholes.

Proper spelling and grammar denotes courtesy to the reader by saving them from the time and effort of translation. Although, after reading your question, spelling isn't your biggest problem; you really need to learn how to write well and use mixed sentences. Starting nearly every sentence with "I" is like raising bright red flags over personality flaws.

When it doesn't bother you anymore, it won't bother them. My Father is incredibly smart. He can do astronomical math problems, but he can not spell . Sometimes when we are really good at something- we lack a little in other areas. It's no big deal, just use spell check!

Maybe because they know how smart you are and it bugs them that they think that since you're so smart you should know how to spell words right. Maybe keep a dictionary near you or ask someone how to spell it correctly.

I am the exact same way. Did you learn how to spell using the 'full word method'. It's very possible that if you did, it is a large reason why you have trouble spelling.
