c wholesome; which is more like normal, healthy, etc., than the more exciting words wonderful, fantastic, and terrific. In fact, wholesome can be downright boring at times.

It could be either C, or D.
if it were C),wholesome, it would be so because it has to do with health or mental stability.
But if it were D), terrific has two definitions--1)good or awesome. -or- 2)Bad or unpleasant.
If you use the second definition for D all the others would deal with that which is good, leaving terrific dealing with that which is negative.

Wholesome
The others describe something that is intense good, as in a general sense good, while "wholesome" indicates specifically that something is either healthy or shameless. Wholesome is a specific type of good.

wholesome - because it may be conducive to the enhancement of "the whole" but not be wonderful or terrific or fantastic - depending on your opinion.
