I have been online for over 10 years now and it has been only in the last 3 or 4 years that I have noticed people typing in a sort of Shorthand code. I just don't see the point in it. Half the people can't read it and the rest can't type in it. so what good does it do?

I know what you mean. It really gets on my nerves too. I think that it makes people look stupid and that they never got an education!!! Even in chat and other places where it is popular to abbreviate things I do not, except for the LOL and ROFL. Otherwise I type everything out.

I would have to agree with Emily88 people are getting really lazy and try to find the fastest and easiest way to do things. When it comes to writing it is just annoying though, because it makes it extremely hard to read what they are trying to say.

for the same reason that people use slang. Half the people can't understand it. I don't usually use it; it makes you seem uneducated and frankly it is annoying.
