What do you do when you need to buy christmas presents for 25 people in your family and you can't afford it?
Obviously I could buy cheap presents for everyone but then I would feel like crap. Yes I know they would understand because they are family.....but again.....that would make me feel like absolute crap.

So now what???

We have 2 sets of very nice neighbors, we don't know too much about them or what they like, but we need to come up with a Christmas present for them. Any suggestions?

It's the day before Thanksgiving and I won't be around this weekend to decorate my house for Christmas. Would it be wrong for me to put up my decorations today, but not turn the lights on until after the weekend?

all the food, none of the hassle, like christmas. this year however, i'm just not into it. it's weird. i have no desire to bake, cook, visit etc. if i could, i'd stay home but that's out of the question. anybody know a good way to get out of this frame of mind and get back to normal?
no, it's not depression, just a funk.

I didn't think much of it last year when I heard they were doing away with it, but this year cash is scarce with gas as high as it is as well as everything else, it seems. I will be shopping at K-mart this year since my kids wish list for santa includes lots of electronics which are not cheap.

If you do, here's a schedule for Christmas movies and specials that are going to be on television so you can plan ahead.

http://holidaypages4u.tripod.com/christmas_movies_tv.htm

It says "I'll be adding more Movies & Shows as the Holidays near, so check back often."

Why do we not have thanksgiving in the UK. Surely we should use any excuse we can for another family celebration or party?

All this love, love, love, especially at Christmas. Goodwill to all men. The season to be jolly. God bless you merry gentlemen. Shove it in your Xmas stocking! OK, OK, maybe love is a good thing, but a little bit of hatred never hurt anyone. Shouldn't we have a counterbalancing season where we make lists of everything that annoys us, refuse to speak to each other, listen to angry music (maybe heavy metal or something) and reflect on everything that's screwed up about mankind?

Dumb question, I know, but since it's a secular holiday I just had to ask.

I don't know if it is appropriate to wish my boss, who is Jewish, a "Happy Thanksgiving!"

Members of my family will gather and some of us will overeat. (Not me--I quit doing that years ago.) I am smoking a turkey for part of the meal--it will be done this evening before I go to work and we will put it away to warm up for tomorrow's feast. We will have at least two turkeys (neither of them human) and a lot of veggies, stuffing, gravies, potatoes and such.

It will be a nice family gathering. We will give thanks for our blessings. Our life isn't perfect and is not without a few obstacles, but God has blessed us in so many ways we will put those aside for a day.

How will you observe this wonderful holiday? If you have no plans, you can join us!
