What should I do for Thanksgiving dinner? My mom is out of the country and she's the person who always makes the food. I'm only a 12-year old so only simple recipes please. Oh, do you think I'll be able to cook a turkey?

I've been checking out the store ads (JC Penney, Khols, Walmart) online and despite stores opening at 4 am (insane) I'm really not impressed. So far I haven't seen anything that has me excited and willing to stand in line early Friday morning. I saw better sale prices last month. What about you?

My grandmother and two aunts decided to take it upon themselves to not do Thanksgiving at all this year, mostly because my cousin is away in military school and he doesn't get out until Dec. 1st. They want to have it in early Dec. I told them that this is the stupidest thing ever and that our family is falling apart (because it is.) I told them regardless, I am going to someone's Thanksgiving, because I am gonna eat. The worst thing is, none of them can even admit who's idea it was to not have it....they keep blaming everyone else. How stupid is this, and does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do?

Last year we spent Thanksgiving with my fiance's side of the family. No turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes, yams, crandberry sauce NOTHING! We had chicken, tortillas, salsa, and beans. WTF! Yup that's right. My fiance said it was because they couldn't afford it, that was BS! You should see the amount of food this family throws away. And it was individual chickens we had. Anyways this year we are again going with his family for thanksgiving because his mom and brothers wont be here for christmas.

Anyways I was wondering is there anyone else out there that is not going to have turkey?
If so what are you going to have?

I bought a gingerbread house kit to assemble with my child. It was a nightmare. There was icing everywhere and when we finally got the last piece of candy on, the shingles slid off, and the house collapsed, and everything was messed up. It was a disaster, yet the instructions showed a kid doing it. Am I just not cut out for building gingerbread houses, or does it take practice? I certainly didn't create a good holiday memory.

I hope you all have a great toikey-stuffing holiday. Remeber to cook your hamsters thoroughly through since there's a huge risk of salmonella in undercooked rodents.

You see in my family, my husband and I do not care for the traditional food. We all hate turkey, stuffing, cranberyy sauce.. and all of that. So at our hosue we have a little variety, Mexican food, hamburgers, macaroni and cheese, mini pizzas, hot dogs, chicken instead of turkey...

Our relatives got mad at us when they came to our house for Thanksgiving and saw that we were not serving the traditional meal and vowed never to come back to us again.

Do you spice up your thanksgiving away from this "traditional food" or do yo stick with the turkey and stuffing?

I will be cooking turkey, lasagna, stuffing, candied yams, cornbread. My husband will be making his asparagus with parmesan cheese, and garlic spinach. We're cooking for only 4 of us and our boys are 2 and 6, so we'll be cooking in small portions.
