Last year we spent Thanksgiving with my fiance's side of the family. No turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes, yams, crandberry sauce NOTHING! We had chicken, tortillas, salsa, and beans. WTF! Yup that's right. My fiance said it was because they couldn't afford it, that was BS! You should see the amount of food this family throws away. And it was individual chickens we had. Anyways this year we are again going with his family for thanksgiving because his mom and brothers wont be here for christmas.
Anyways I was wondering is there anyone else out there that is not going to have turkey?
If so what are you going to have?

I understand that the holidays are about being with family that is why I have changed are plans of being with my family for Thanksgiving so that he could at least see his family for one of the holidays. Friday we will be going to my family and there is always left overs but it's just different thats all.

Well, I'm a vegetarian, so I'm probably going to have some soy "turkey". I know of a lot of people who eat ham or chicken on Thanksgiving, though. My aunt, who only eats fish, usually makes salmon. I know it's a little weird when people don't have the traditional Thanksgiving meal... just try and remember that it's about being together as a family and being thankful for each other; not how good the food is.

Wow, I've never heard of that before and I'm Hispanic! :) Well my family always makes a big turkey, even though half of us don't eat Turkey. I don't eat it but I still have to have it there because it's tradition! Hope this helps and Happy Thanksgiving!

It's not too late to throw a turkey in your oven, rip off a nice BIG pieceand stuff it into your purse. smile...We are having turkey for Thanksgiving and all the trimmings. But hey, here's a cute little poem my grandmother wrote and this family did NOT have turkey for Thanksgiving:
Our Thanksgiving Turkey
We brought a big fat turkey home
For our Thanksgiving Dinner;
And let me tell you boys and girls,
That turkey was a winner.
We put him on the basement steps,
And this was mother's warning;
"Now dears, you must not let him out,
We'll kill him in the morning."
Next morning we arose with glee,
All hopeful and excited.
But what with the sight that met our eyes
We knew our hopes wre blighted.
We tip toed to the pantry first
To peak into the cupboards,
But those shelves that had been loaded
Were as bare as Mother Hubbard's.
Then quickly to the turkey box,
But the pesky little sinner
Had gone, and left a note which read:
"Thanks for the scrumptious dinner."
"I certainly love pumkin pie,
I dote on turkey stuffing,
And how I feasted on that dish
of good ol' lasses taffy!
"Please excuse the writing, folks,
My claw is kind of jerky.
Wishing you all a horrid time,
I sign myself, Tom Turkey."
Now wasn't that a wonderous bird?
You'll never see a better,
Though mother seems to have her doubts
About who wrote the letter!

Well, that is one turkey saved. Not to talk of the chickens gone! ;-)
Consider it that way. I do know of many families that do not have turkey.
I guess it is all about Family being together and giving our thanks......
Happy Thanksgiving!

Many people do not like Turkey and they choose ham and or chicken. Personally we are having two turkeys and one ham cooked with cola and pineapple. I have some friends Friends that are having chicken and some like us that are having Ham.
