I'm basically agnostic for lack of a better description. Giving thanks for the harvest is an ancient tradition from all over the world and much much older than the pilgrim/Iroquois feast of legend. I try to remember to give thanks every day when I wake up. What Thanksgiving day means to me though, is to get together with family and friends and be thankful for THEM. You don't always think about the people that help you and love you. So be thankful for your people even if you don't always agree and you're not always lovey-dovey with them. You need them more than you might think. That's my 2 cents!

Giving thanks to God for His blessings and providence. The pilgrims did this on the first Thanksgiving. After surviving life in the new world for a year, and reaping a harvest, they invited their new Indian friends and had a day of feasting and thanksgiving to the Lord. Like Psalms 100 tells us, "Enter His gates with thanksgiving in your heart, enter His courts with praise".

I have always seen it - ever since childhhod- as a reminder of how lucky my family is. We dont have much: moderate paying jobs, your "average" vehicles, and "average" housing. Not many luxuries at all. But Thanksgiving shows me that the abundance of food, family and togetherness is not to be taken lightly because many, many people dont even have that. We're really lucky.

I believe everyone should take one day (at least) out of the year and recognize and be thankful to God for everything in our lives. The good and the bad. Everything that happens to us, makes us who we are so it's all beneficial in the longrun. We should at least be able to do that once a year, don't you think? Blessings on this holiday to you and yours!

I always thought about the pilgrims and the indians. I have never read in the bible about Thanksgiving. It just tells us to give thanks and be greatful for what you have and don't have.

To give thanks to the bounty full blessings we have received. That we live in a wonderful nation, that lives in Peace and in Harmony. I give thanks for my familie, for my friends and for my churches families.
I give thanks that I am still alive (after three open heart surgery's). And hope that I will have many more years left on this good earth.
