i know the story behind the holiday and it seems kinda wierd to celebrate a holiday just because some candles burned for a few days more than usual. Can anyone tell me what else there is to this holiday other than that.

I have three friends (female-aged 26) that I always exchange gifts with them. Money is sorta tight this year but I really want to do something for them. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for something I could make for them that is sentimental but inexpensive. And where I could find ideas. Or any other ideas.

One big gift or a bunch of smaller ones?

My boyfriend and I both have birthdays this weekend, his today mine tomorrow, and we set a budget for eachother. I'm just wondering whether it is better to get one present worth the entire amount, or a bunch of little ones equalling the budget amount.

I think I'd pick the bunch. :-)

Is that a Catholic tradition? Is it American or from another country. I remember this vaguely from when I was a kid, but would like to know more details.

Which do you like better and why?

I like storebought eggnog myself. But have heard that homemade tastes nothing like it.

This is really directed to those of you in the USA (I'm writing from Somerset, England).

We cannot buy Eggnog here in UK, so we have decided to make our own, but am not sure the best way to go about it !

Could some one give me the basic recipe, including details for storage & lifespan of the drink?

Many Thanks & Happy Christmas.
