Homemade can be really good, but one word of caution... you run a risk of salmonella poisoning if you make your own.
If you like storebought, you may be dissapointed because the taste and texture isn't quite the same.

Well... homemade eggnog is fabulous but it does take time to make. Store bought is still ok and still tastes great. As for me, I would rather have homemade because it tastes so wonderful.

Nothing is the same as homemade. That goes for anything you are talking about, be it eggnog, cookies, fruitcake, etc. But I suppose it depends on your available time and cooking expertise as anytime you use raw eggs you have to know what you are doing and the eggs must be 100% fresh.

Store bought is pasteurized so there is no danger of salmonella. It tastes better than homemade, but is usually not as healthy. Homemade can be made with Splenda, which cuts way down on the calories.

INGREDIENTS 12 eggs 1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar 24 cups milk 1 pinch ground nutmeg DIRECTIONS Separate the eggs. In a large bowl beat the egg whites until frothy. Whisk in 3/4 cup of the confectioners' sugar and beat until stiff peaks are formed. Beat the egg yolks with the remaining 1/2 cup of confectioners' sugar. Fold the egg whites into the egg yolks and refrigerate. In a large stock pot heat the milk until hot but do not boil. Reduce heat and keep milk hot. To each mug add 1 large heaping tablespoon of egg mixture. Stir and fill mug with hot milk. Place another tablespoon of egg mixture on top and sprinkle with nutmeg.

Homemade tastes better - but it's not pasturized, and if you happen to get eggs that have salmonella, you may be in a bit of a pickle.
