someone told me they would give me a call around mid afternoon, and i'm not sure when I should call them when mid afternoon ends.......because I don't know exactly when mid afternoon is?!

I find it difficult to read and extremely annoying. I appreciate that spelling and grammar are not everyone's strong point (mine included), but is this new 'lazy' method of writing, which some people seem to have adopted, just sheer idleness, or is it the new trend and I'm just hopelessly missing something?!

One of my collaborators from work has been trying to make me fall for him. He says that he loves me, but I haven't accepted to be his girlfriend.
Even though he has been very attentive with me until now, he hasn't called me on my birthday.

Is this rude of him? Or how should I consider it?

I think if you are dining in a restaurant with someone, they should turn their cellphone off and give you their full attention. They also shouldn't go to the bathroom during the meal just to talk on their cellphone. What do you think?

We hear thing like "the first African American" or "African American did this" By changing the word dose not change the use, "What's in a name? Would a rose, by any other name, really smell as sweet"

Lets stop using these racial terms it this that keeps us separarted.

simplicity of the world? Why is everyone so ignorant? And I use this word to the fullest extent of its definition. Isn't it easier to be peaceful and passive rather than go completely out of your way to be rude, greedy and caught up in this pitiful excuse of a world? How many people say hello to a passing stranger? How many people say thank-you if someone holds a door? How many people hold the door? How many people slow down and enjoy their families? How many people instead of wandering about what they want next sit back and indulge in what they have now? Will everyone at least once a day (no matter how busy) live in now, now, now instead of more, more, more. Forget about tomorrow and live for today. Be kind, nice and caring at least with the people you know.

If you want to pay in instalments open a separate savings account for the money. Not only is the money safe but at the end of the year you will have the INTEREST on the money that the government take if you buy stamps. im a family man and have 3 children and i love them all dearly, earlier i saw an advert on the tv for nspcc and i felt very overwealmed by it. i have donated to the nspcc for a few years and every time i see it on the tv it makes me mad sad and very confused as to why people would harm any child. we must all be very vigilant and keep an eye out for our kids and other peoples kids as somtimes everything seams ok but in reality it is not. im not saying report your neighbour for tapping there kids on the legs or anything like that but it does run deeper then we all think.

well in mine there was a girl who was raped by 4 guys in the broad day light in the city centre subway and no one came to help her. pretty sad hey why do people just walk by and let these things happen. if i had saw it i would have helped her or called the police.(this happened several years ago and they never found the bastards)

For me it's drinking or dialling. It's so embarrassing. The things I say... cringe! Or sometimes I don't say anything at all, but then get upset when they say they have to go and ring back as soon as they hang up, even if I'd just said "OK bye".

Just wondering what everyone else's embarrassing drunk habits are so I don't feel like such a freak!

Everytime I walk by guys they spit on the ground. It seems like they spit as soon as they see me. I walk past a guy and he spits. I think he wants to show his distain for me? Is that why they do it?

Any spitters out there that can say?

Some people are in a rush, or worried when they post a question on here. If they leave a few words out or missspell something, do you have to point it out? Do you have to read and answer the question as such? i think we can all use common sense and fill in the blanks on our own.

I have this professor who I really like and he's inspired me in so many ways. I want to thank him for it but I don't want him to think I am being insincere or trying to kiss his @ss. I am one of those people who says what they mean, and means what they say. So how can I express my gratitude without sounding “too grateful” and therefore insincere?

As a computer engineer, I work with lots of people including native white Americans and immigrants. While I get along well with them at work, I hesitate to invite any of my female colleagues to a date as I'm not sure of how to conduct myself at a date 'cause in India we don't have a dating system. So, I'd like to get some tips on how to go about asking girls for a date and how best to conduct myself so hopefully I can make a girlfriend if I find one whom I like. What are the do's and don'ts.
