simplicity of the world? Why is everyone so ignorant? And I use this word to the fullest extent of its definition. Isn't it easier to be peaceful and passive rather than go completely out of your way to be rude, greedy and caught up in this pitiful excuse of a world? How many people say hello to a passing stranger? How many people say thank-you if someone holds a door? How many people hold the door? How many people slow down and enjoy their families? How many people instead of wandering about what they want next sit back and indulge in what they have now? Will everyone at least once a day (no matter how busy) live in now, now, now instead of more, more, more. Forget about tomorrow and live for today. Be kind, nice and caring at least with the people you know.

I do all of these things but I still wish for things I don't have. That's never going to change.

I moved south 6 months ago and I don't find any difference in the people here. Some are just as rude as up north. I think it depends on the people themselves. Territory doesn't enter into it. I just try to do the right thing with the pleases and thank yous.
And the people who are in this world just for more, more, more should know that in the end it just doesn't matter. Keep being a good person.

I am from the south, and most people there are kind, considerate, and hospitable. I'm now in the mid-west, and I think people here are a bit more hurried, thus no time for pleasantries. I do think that a lot of people here are self-centered, especially when it comes to driving: they get into the right-turn lane although they're not turning, which causes turners to wait; they don't let people get in front of them, etc.

It's hard to live for today when we must plan for tomorrow, but I'm not sure this has a correlation with rudeness. I'll have to give that some thought.

Lived in the Midwest, East, and West, now in the South. Believe me the South has more hospitality than all the other places put together. It was almost shocking when I first moved here....doors were opened for me, there were always thank you, please, excuse me, coming from people I would come in contact with. I love it and wouldn't live anywhere else. I almost forgot myself and now I'm back to giving the respect to others as it is given to me. Take care and God Bless.

As long as you don't move to any big, crowded cities in the South you should be fine. I LOVE small towns in the South. People are easy-going and friendly, you have room to breathe. I live in a big city, and I am stressed out every day of my life (traffic, rude irritable people, congestion).

It's a "me first" society now adays. Everyone thinks that he or she is special and therfore deserving of...whatever. In a "microwave society", people are looking for instant gratification and don't believe they should have to wait. Kind of like, " get outta my way, that's mine!". Selfish, selfish people.

That's why so many people are "jekle and hydes" when they get behind the wheel of a car. "How dare you delay me!!" Unfortunately, our society has trained people to be this way.

Yes, I agree. But I do find some decent people here in the Mid-West. I find it helps talking to them. Sometimes it takes a while, but it works.

Come on down south. It is all better down here! The food is good, the men are polite (for the most part) and the women are less 8itchy. :-)

Move to Montreal, Canada. You will never find perfection in any place or people but we`re as close as it gets.

I think your idea sounds wonderful. Unfortunately, I don't think that all people in the South are like this.
