When you buy a stamp you are paying in ADVANCE. If the book is lost or slolen you lose ALL the money as they won't refund it. If you want to pay in instalments open a separate savings account for the money. Not only is the money safe but at the end of the year you will have the INTEREST on the money that the government take if you buy stamps. You can transfer a set amount into this account by standing order as well as save your time and others. Wake up old people the goverment are taking YOUR money

I take your point but many old people don't have bank accounts and If they approach the banks for one they are turned down. Paying the TV licence by monthly direct debit is, I think the best way but again you need a bank account.

They do it because it is the only way they can afford to do it and I salute them for it. They are finding it hard enough to make ends meet without now having to worry that they may be holding you up a whole two minutes. They probably never had enough money to have enough to put in savings accounts, yet they always pay their way....and how they do so is entirely up to them. God Bless them all.

Well dont worry about it. The Stamps method is not in use as of 2007 anyway, so they'll have to pay the same rate as everybody else, and the same way as everybody else.

So dont worry, you'll be able to get your benefits about 2 minutes earlier than normal.

When you reach OLD AGE you will realise why they do what they do....they feel more secure in the knowledge that when their bills arrive they have sufficient to pay for them.

They werent brought up in the world of have everything today and worry about paying it later.

They got it right.

If you havent got the patience to wait in the queue, bugger off and go back later, when it isnt so busy....simple solution.

Sunseaand, you are beautiful. Thank you sweetheart. My two cents is, they do it just to make all you others mad as hell and
then laugh all the way home, lol, lol, lol. I can't wait 'til you get
old, however, I'm sure you will get dis-respect.
