I don't understand the common denominator here.
Is this some tongue in cheeking on the part of YA?

Like most of the contributors to this site, we lived through the "cold war" with Russia (USSR). With Putin now dominating the politics of Russia, do you think that we (U.S.) will be in the same situation in the near future, and if so, what do you think the repercussions will be ?

(I think the cold war is what fueled the original "James Bond" series of movies)

This elderly couple is watching one of those television preachers on TV one night. The preacher faces the camera, and announces, "My friends, I'd like to share my healing powers with everyone watching this program. Place one hand on top of your TV & the other hand on the part of your body which ails you and I will heal you."

The old woman has been having terrible stomach problems, so she places one hand on the television, and her other hand on her stomach. Meanwhile, her husband approaches the television, placing one hand on top of the TV and his other hand on his groin.

With a frown his wife says, "Ernest, he's talking about healing the sick, not raising the dead."

And how about the boots too? People my age will know what I'm speaking off. Took me forever to get them on and had to lay on the floor to get the snowsuit off, but I don't ever recollect being cold. We played outside in the snow too! Not like today's schools at all.

getting put or sent away-that you say when you've had a senior moment? I just read Witch Hazel say "Special Sunday Afternoon Drive". My mom always said (for the last five years anyways) "I guess you'll be getting me a room next to dad's" and my sister's family (who live in Alaska) say "Guess it's time to send you out on the ice floe" a reference to the long ago Eskimo tradition of putting the elderly out to sea. Does your family have such a saying?

Brother-in-law's brother has a wife that told him she wasn't interested in sex anymore so he can date her younger sister, which he did and she had a baby with him. Now her and his wife raise that child together along with her six kids.

Parents had a friend who found a wife in Canada, brought her home, was married for five years, then she broke up with him to date his father. They got married and are still married. I just saw them in town today and thought up this silly question.

Know anyone's love life like these people?

answer the telephone with the TV remote? I just did and felt so foolish even though there was no one else here to see it. I'm wondering if that might be an indication of some old-timer's disease. Must be careful to keep this from my children or they might begin planning my special Sunday Afternoon Drive.

We dont usually get snow until almost Christmas, and then we are all hoping for a white Christmas. It doesnt usually get really cold here until January, but its been snowing for a week now. Today its -12C (thats 12 degrees below freezing) and its damn cold out there.

I had to go to the store and my car never even warmed up, its about 9 blocks. I just cleared about 5 inches of snow off the car for that, and now its covered again.

I really dont like this, too much, too soon. I can think of a lot of reasons why a person should live in a much warmer climate.
"Winter Wonderland" is over-rated.

Last year my daughter and SIL were living up north, he was working on the rigs, and there snow almost covered the windows in their basement suite. But thats NORTH - we arent supposed to have extreme winters.

"They" are predicting this could the coldest winter Canadians have had - oh yay (not) Colder than 1994 when it hit -65 in Northern Alberta

Have the hackers taken over this site? I posted a question wanting to know if others had received an offer on their screens for being the winner of a prize that said it was not a joke. I have been ignoring it & wanted to know if anyone else was getting this same message. What's this all about, Alphie?

We have been here lately discussing Christmas and how we feel about it-Loved GW's dissertation-I was just over on the Christmas Y!A section and was so appalled I had to leave. A 14 yo wondering if a $40 gift was enough for her bf. People spending $25-$50 on "gag" gifts for work gift exchanges. And everyone wonders why we "olders" are disenchanted with the holiday.

An old man was sitting on a bench at the mall. A young man walked up to the bench and sat down. He had spiked hair in all different colors; green, red, orange, blue, and yellow. The old man just stared and stared. Every time the young man looked, the old man was staring.

The young man finally said sarcastically, "What's the matter old timer, never done anything wild in your life?"

Without batting an eye, the old man replied, "Got drunk once and made love with a peacock; now wondering if we're related"

Great show & I really enjoyed it, as it was one I'd never seen. The last original member of the Drifters performed, & they said that he passed away two weeks after the show that aired last night. I do remember hearing about that not so long ago.
