I don't understand the common denominator here.
Is this some tongue in cheeking on the part of YA?

Society and Groups:
*Lesbians, Bisexuals, Transgenders

*People with Disabilities

*Senior Citizens

*Other Cultures and Groups

This is an excellent question... the first answer gave me a laugh!!! to funny!

When I saw the Question on the page I didn't know it had to to with this, so I was going to chime in and tell u that as long as I'm on the top of the Best-est list to those in my life it just doesn't matter!

Star for U!

We're disabled, sort of Seniors and our eldest daughter is a lesbian so we are in the correct category! We like this section because it covers all sorts of topics not just the sort of questions non-seniors would expect to find here. We like the US seniors as there are a lot more questions than on the UK & Ireland YA. We'll be forgetting where we really live before much longer coz we come onto the US seniors and watch FOX news at the same time lol.

Matters not to me...I'm senior in age to most of the folk on the other segments of Y!A...have a whole lot more in common with the folk here and enjoy that we talk about a variety of things and wouldn't miss the humor for anything!

I surely don't mind being under Culture and Groups that includes Lesbians, Gays and Persons with Disabilities...have not one iota of bias towards those groups either [which comprise many of us too!] Folk are folk!...

I did notice that in cultures and groups, the front page had mostly questions from lesbians, etc. with a few questions from seniors sandwiched in between. I did think that a little....um....interesting. I'm not sure I understand the categorizing, either.

It is not about categorizing people it is a matter of categorizing topics of interest. Although I visit the Senior Citizen category often I also visit others. Even some that are not of a particular interest. I do it just to investigate what is going on.

When I first had the internet I started playing around and found Yahoo Q&A. Then I started clicking on everything to see what everything was and lo and behold! I found seniors, quite by accident and now it's my favourite hangout. I like it being hard ro find because my grandaughter is 13 and keeps asking where seniors is. A gramma has to have a few things that are private ! LOL!
We all are human and as long as we respect each others differences I don't care what they call me as long as it isn't a cab.

I'm a home bound senior but I like to dabble in all category's.

I don't know what the common denominator is but they better not be profiling.

I'm just another speck on the planet.

no idea where to put any of the above so they dumped us in a catch all. I belong here in a unique way . I am a disabled lesbian , senior citizen

HA!!! I was wondering the same.
In order to get to the "Senior Citizen" sub-category you have to click on about six different topics to get here. It's like they have to hide us ole' folks deep into the site like they are ashamed when in fact we have more knowledge and life experience than any other category. { IMHO }
