We dont usually get snow until almost Christmas, and then we are all hoping for a white Christmas. It doesnt usually get really cold here until January, but its been snowing for a week now. Today its -12C (thats 12 degrees below freezing) and its damn cold out there.

I had to go to the store and my car never even warmed up, its about 9 blocks. I just cleared about 5 inches of snow off the car for that, and now its covered again.

I really dont like this, too much, too soon. I can think of a lot of reasons why a person should live in a much warmer climate.
"Winter Wonderland" is over-rated.

Last year my daughter and SIL were living up north, he was working on the rigs, and there snow almost covered the windows in their basement suite. But thats NORTH - we arent supposed to have extreme winters.

"They" are predicting this could the coldest winter Canadians have had - oh yay (not) Colder than 1994 when it hit -65 in Northern Alberta

My friend on the island says they had over three feet of snow in the pass and last night, and the power was out. They were running on generators, the shore was being pounded by high seas and it was still snowing when we finally said goodnight at almost midnight.

25 foot waves, all I can say is "WOW". Stay indoors, stay warm. I used to love to go to the beach during a storm but I stayed well back - you know what they say "never turn your back on the ocean" because a rogue wave will get you everytime, and I did once, and sure enough - drenched from head to foot and my camera too. That was years ago, I learned my lesson

On December 1 (yesterday) we had a storm move in. Freezing rain, sleet, snow, then warmed up to rain. The trees where so heavy with ice, the limbs where breaking and breaking power lines. That was bad enough, but my son was getting married, and we only had emergency lights and candles to do everything with. The whole town was without power. Well today it warmed up to the 30's and tonight down to the teens. These are not normal for this time of year, here.

Oh Isotope...Let me tell you what's happening here!.
It started early this AM. I could watch the low clouds heading North (fast) and the high ones heading South.
When they connected over us, all hell broke loose.
We are having hi- winds and
gusts of 60 mph. the rain
comes in spurts but is driving.
I'm glad I have double-pane
windows.
I listen to Kailua,HI online
radio and yesterday they were
saying they had 25' waves
on their So. shore. I bet Our
own coastline is taking a
beating, but I'm not going out
to see.
So everyone is "holed up"
like rats and just waiting it
out.
I think YOUR storm has
moved down the coast.
By Wed. we're supposed to
be back to normal.
We have an "Advisory" now
stating flash floods, fast increase of water in creeks,
lakes,etc.
I can almost bet you that there are some nutcases out
there today watching the
holocaust, and tomorrow we
will hear they got swept out
to sea. It happens every time.
We lost a Vietnamese family
of 7 a few years ago, just
standing on a rock and watching the storm come in.

Sid B...I know that emblem you use as an Avatar...mine had a Caduceus in the middle, though!

Yes, Isotope...I have heard that as well. And look at this past weekend--THREE different HUGE storm systems hitting parts of Canada all at once. And the Atlantic provinces STILL have just as much to look forward to, with snow knee high already!

I used to live in Alberta. The winter that I spent there the temperature sometimes hit -50 degrees. Oh, yes...I remember what cold is.

truly ? your hectic approximately this ?? How could it influence your existence ? you may choose to spend all your existence's discounts ? you are going to be able to desire to refrain from making that down cost for the 2013 summer season holiday ? ;) All kidding aside : NO the international will ( probably) not lead to 2012. There are some issues that could desire to reason actual problems ( like a meteor strike of doom) yet we've not observed any meteors on a collision direction for 2012. the entire 2012 element comes from some aluminum-foil-hats people who observed the maya's had an exceptionally state-of-the-artwork calendar. The calendars we chanced on went each and every of ways as much as 2012, and somebody with the psychological flexibility of a clam desperate that on the tip of the calendar the international could end besides. technological awareness has given no motives the international is in greater beneficial possibility of ending in 2012. So be at liberty to sit down down back and difficulty on the subject of the small stuff ;)

Here in Austin we broke a record high from 1943 today -- it was 84 degrees, party cloudy, light breezes, high clouds ... in all a beautiful day. There's something about warm temperatures and fall leaves that makes me feel so contented. Normal temperatures are around 65 this time of year, and that's what it's supposed to be tomorrow. I hear it's snowed 10 inches already in the panhandle. I'll keep the mild weather and sunshine, thanks!

In Vermont winter comes any time after October first. Expecting hugh amounts of snow tonight ( 18 to 24 inches ) snowing now , I'll take snow over that terrible summertime heat anytime. I still cross country ski and took up ice skating again ( after 35 years ) . You have to get out in it to enjoy the winter.

No not really.

I am in Northern MI. And we got hammered last night.

A little over nine inches and up to six more inches expected tonight.

But hey, This is MI. and we all knew it was coming.

Actually we have been spoiled the last couple years.

And have not had snow before thanksgiving.

This year we had four inches thanksgiving day.

Looks like It is gonna be a long winter.

That's really weird, because in Texas (I live near Houston), it gotten to the freezing point, which is pretty unusual. I can usually wear a skirt outside during Christmas, but for the past few years, it's just been getting colder and colder and colder earlier. I would say we usually don't get it this cold until January, but evidentally not this year.

Even weirder is that it's heated up. The cold weather lasted for about two weeks or so, and just like it, it went away. Today it was in the mid 70's F. That's Houston for you, I guess.

I am much further south and we just got our first taste of winter yesterday-as far as it being early-Nope we often get a white Thanksgiving and sometimes even Halloween. It's much warmer here too about 30 today. But I did live in Alaska one year so I can relate. Winter Wonderland only lasts the first day doesn't it?

Not necessarily early. We sometimes get snow around Halloween. We did get a good dumping of snow yesterday, probably about 11 inches. But that's to be expected in Wisconsin this time of year.
