i do not care who you vote for or which party but i am asking you to take the time to get out and vote -- we seniors need to be a voice strong enough to bring awareness that we are a force that will not be igroned!!!!

Suddenly being over 60 is costing people time and money? Does this mean my debit card isn't as good as theirs, is the money I earned thru the years not any good any more? Is my standing in line with the masses taking up additional time. Can anyone define this??

Twas the month after Christmas and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.

The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste.
All the holiday parties had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).

I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,

The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."

As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt---

I said to myself, as I only can
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"

So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip

Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.

I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.

I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.

I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore---
But isn't that what January is for?

Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

Word translations seem to be a big problem in todays world. I have a feeling that the "traditions" of yesteryear have been lost in translation over the centuries.
What are your thoughts regarding presents vs presence?
Do you think people have gone too far away from the real meaning of Christmas & other Holidays?

We have the Prairie Home Companion, and it is great fun, but it's more of a variety show. The only radio theater I've heard are re-runs of the old, old shows. Not to say they can't be fun, but I'd like to have some new ones. Maybe a couple of hours on a Sunday evening. Different styles...Comedy, drama. Sci-fi...

"I consider old people treasures who should be valued for their knowlege and experiences. They are living history books."
If I wanted to read about George Washington, I'd look it up online. Do you think this is funny?

Don't most of them die before their grandchildren are born or before they reach the age of 5? I never knew anyone who had living grandparents when I was growing up. This was not the "norm" in my childhood or my classmates! When did your grandparents die?

I mean, I have never gotten much respect from them. They are grumpy, nasty, never polite to me. I could go all day without a gray-haired person giving me that kinda abuse. I guess I'm bad because i don't respect my elders...but you know what? I DONT!

...and that it would take "time" to be accepted. Well, this isn't a chat room, and i am NOT doing anything wrong by posting questions. My question for this oh-so sensative group is, was that person accurate? Is this a group setting? Will I or any younger person get reported if we post a question that is against your delicate sensibilities (or you simply don't agree with it!)?

We have about 18 more days in 2007. Was this a rough year for you or a peaceful one? That is, in regard to finances, kids, possessions, health, deaths, etc.

something your mom or dad kept or used that was only theirs. My Dad had one chair at the kitchen table and if he walked in you got up he never said anything but we always moved. Or my mom always had so many plants in the house dad used to say if she brought one more in he was divorcing her.

As a full fledged member of this sometimes trying, sometimes satisfying group, I wonder how big the club is.

To be a member you have to be still providing for your children while taking care of your parent(s).

I have my younger daughter (married) living in an apartment adjoining our house. I babysit my older daughter's daughter while she and her husband work. I also have my 97 year old mother living with us in lieu of a nursing home.

me? I'm the jelly that glues all this together!

It's irridescent, kind of resembles carnival glass; goes from purple to blue to orange to green, all mixed together. I've heard the paint is terribly expensive. How does it work?
