Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Computers, for example, have actually far exceeded the potential envisioned for them 50 years ago; but still haven't gotten to the point that they can mimic actual humans. On the other hand, I'm still waiting for that flying car they promised.

I like to think of yesterday's science fiction as yesterday's dreams and speculations. Some of the dreams came true and some missed the mark.

No. Nor is everything they think of in fiction becoming reality, nor is every new invention thought of in fiction.

But in the events it does it is fun to observe and science fiction is a great influence and inspiration on what people want to work on.

I always liked to read Sci.Fi novels/stories. I find it amusing that Captain Kirk ran around with his "communicator" and it is not too far off from our cell phones. People can see people they talk to on screen now which was a sci/fi make-believe when I was a teen. Many things have come into being, but plenty of others haven't. I'm still waiting for Scotty to "beam me up"!!!!! =)
