I'm not talking about a baseball cap or a winter stocking cap, I'm talking about a real chapeau. And not knit gloves or isotonic gloves or sherarling gloves, but dressy evening-wear type gloves.

Just wondering if anyone gets REALLY gussied up anymore.

The copy I saw was in black and white and they were like ballroom dancing, very elegant but their backs were turned to each other.

or over here!
That's some of the great brit humor from a question I asked a while back. Thought I'd pop over again.
Can someone give me a brief explanation of your old age pensioner system?
Is it like our SS, where you contribute over time and receive back based on earnings and age of retirement?
Is it a real pension just based on age or years worked, totally funded by the government?
Any other programs as a support system for us old ones?
(I hope that "brit" is not considered derogatory, if so I apologize)

you would get your meals, sheets changed everything you need, and the government would t take your money away, and people would not be as likely to lose their houses, i just think it might be cheaper for some people

obviously if they needed special care then they would need a nursing home

thanks for your answers

When I was about 3-4 years old (would`ve been around 1956 or 1957), my brothers and sisters and I would listen to the radio. (I still remember the dong, ding, dong, identifiying NBC). There was a song we all remember in part, with lyrics as follows..."Mountain men are mean, mountain men are tough".... I`m sorry, that`s all we remember. It seems as though the line might have been repeated, maybe part of the chorus. Anyone remember this song?

It did not explain what the violation was but it was a question about a song. I felt posting a song question on senior citizens to be appropriate because it was aimed at the senior citizens who would know the answers. Other than that, I can see no reason. The question started "Seniors, you have to remember" and I am unable to even research my question because it was deleted. Would you kind people on this site help me? I am afraid to send any more song lyrics to this site.

I'm becoming more hard line as I age. In my city a 15 yr. old shot at a police officer and in the return fire he was shot 4 times. This child was found guilty 2 yrs. ago of holding a young man down while his girlfriend stabbed the guy to death. 2 yrs. later and he is out with a big pistol in an area known for drugs and prostitution. His girlfriend will be out in 5 years. Should he ever be allowed to walk the streets again? Would you want him in your city?

I've learned to play tennis. You choose a professional and play againgst them. And I've learned to play soccer against one of my house mates. I usually lose, but do manage to get some good goals in there.

After those two I'm lost.

isn't that sad? they took care of you for 18 years, gave you good education, made sure you become a good citizen of the society, and shared to you their wisdom. in return, you throw them out in a nursing home when they become old and useless, and make the caregivers responsible for them. it just doesn't sound right.

As we watched with dismay, the events of 9/11, I just want to say that, today, we all remember ,with you, our prayers and thoughts were with you, we wept for you and today we still remember with you. May God Bless America and all who dwell on her soil.

and for those who lost loved ones.-

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them of the years condemn them;

At the going down of the sun and in the morning;
"WE WILL REMEMBER THEM"

We have an elderly neighbor, who is disabled and does not have any resources. Is it possible to find a free elderly transportation system in NJ (New Brunswick)? She needs to see her doctor and she can barely walk. She lives alone and her family does not provide care.

Thank you
