I'm not talking about a baseball cap or a winter stocking cap, I'm talking about a real chapeau. And not knit gloves or isotonic gloves or sherarling gloves, but dressy evening-wear type gloves.

Just wondering if anyone gets REALLY gussied up anymore.

I meant to say shearling. My fingers got in the way of my brain.

I THINK HAT'S ARE MORE POPULAR IN THE BIG CITIES AND HIGH FASHION. KNIT HATS (WINTER), BALL PARK TYPE HATS ARE POPULAR EVERYWHERE. BUT THE FORMAL LOOK OF HATS ARE GENERALLY NOW ONLY WORN BY BLACK WOMEN ATTENDING CHURCH. GLOVES ARE STILL GOING STRONG IN THE WINTER THOUGH EVERYWHERE AREN'T THEY.

Probably when I was a kid going to the Prom. No I don't get really gussied up, ever.

The last time I wore a "hat and gloves" was picking up trash from a parking lot, LOL

My sister told me I looked like a mushroom in a hat...if that will give you the general idea of what I would look like and reasons NOT to wear one.

I have a picture my mother took of me wearing the latest style dress, complete with hat and gloves, on Easter Sunday. There was a name for the dress but can't remember. Only accentuated your chest and back end. The rest was a bit loose. (In other words, no waist). I loved that dress.I was a sophomore in high school. I also wore gloves to my senior prom. It was fun to dress then. I miss it.

I still wear hats but not dress ones. I only wear gloves when it is cold.

I guess the styles keep changing. My aunt used to have about 20 hats along with that many hat pins. She was so pretty.

There was a time that gloves, hats, (many with veils), nice pumps, smoothed hipped dresses (girdles and slips abound) and stockings covered the beautiful women of the world. If my mom were alive today, she would still be properly dressed. She did not abide by pants (in church) and other casual wear. Today, I'd love to wear a nice hat and gloves, but I play piano for my church and I did try ONE time - but it doesn't work. I'm much too excited as a musician - my hat went one way and I never found my gloves!

I belong to the Red Hat society, but I am really not a
hat person. They mess up your hair, and don't always work
with glasses. I wore a hat and gloves when I played Martha
in "Arsenic and Old Lace" about 10 years ago. I went to
Katherine Gibbs secretarial school back in the 60's and
a hat and gloves were what we wore.

Last time I purposely wore a hat was when I was trying out the Red Hat group. If I ever wore evening type gloves, I can't remember.

Yes, and I love it. Although, not hats anymore.
My husband and I go to different functions, which include formal. So I wear the white gloves that go over the arm..
long white dress gloves. Or if it is informal, wear small gloves.
Really to each their own...I love it.
By the way, I liked gidnsilnc response. It is healthier to wear gloves when you go out, even shopping. Never know
what kind of germs are on the doorknobs, etc....
especially the rest rooms. You wash your hands, then touch that doorknob.....mmmm. So I use tissue.

I think it is a little early for the gloves and scarfs unless its real windy but I do have the heavier fall jackets out and the hats and they are glad to wear them. It is definatly fall weather kinda lol
