just because you are from the same "race".?

Example- I expect you to do business with me just because we are both of the same race


I get appraoched by folks that expect me to "hook them up" (referals,contacts,etc)
just because we are of the same race.

And when I respond different from what they expected they look at me with disappointment.

How do I know they expect the "hook up",because they will start to talk about other races of folks in a negitive way as if it is "us against them". I am truley amazed at folks narrow minded ways of doing things.

I only focus on GREEN when it comes to business is always my response.

I do, it helps children learn and understand different cultures. The class that I was subsituting for yesterday had every race, and children from many different countries. I think it's also interesting to have a group of children from all over the world. What does everyone else think?

I have to admit flying from Seattle to Addis was disgustingly boring however, I’m so excited to be here in Addis to celebrate Ethiopian millennium with my family and friends. One of the answerers (my friend) called me a control freak which was kind of shocking to me because I thought I was too linient or a just bit mean and wanted to make improvements, or rather find a balance. Some Jewish friends have been so kind to ask me and my wife to join them for Rosh Hashanah dinner. I'd like to bring something to express our gratitude, but I want to be respectful of any cultural norms that might restrict such a gesture. im native american indian and french. im 30...im aging but, i have deep blue saphire eyes, brown tanned skin, im balding with dark brown hair...even though i recentley trimmed it all off.

anyway i'm really hung up on my appearance because i feel i look a white aging man and my appearance doesnt reflect what i really am....i dont like the way i look sometimes....because i feel my appearence sets me apart from my culture and makes me look like aging white man...
im really depressed over this.

Growing up Asian I always wondered about how our parents raised us. Read below:

WHITE PARENT: Dad wants his son to be a Football jock , however, the son is interested in Ballet instead. So the dad gets angry at his son and yells at him. The son is forced to play football to please father and is unhappy with his decision. Although he is far more talented and loves Ballet, dad wants to raise a football jock and not a sissy Ballet dancer.

ASIAN PARENT: Parents want their child to be a doctor, engineer, or lawyer, however, the child is a talented artist offered a scholorship. The child dreams of a career in art and follow their passion. However, parents get angy and threaten to disown him and say "Do you want to be poor all you life?" So the asian kid pursues a career he is not interested in or skilled at.

Why is it that whites are considered to be abusive and psycho when they want their kids to be jocks.But Asian parents are praised for doing the same thing to their kid?
