Some Jewish friends have been so kind to ask me and my wife to join them for Rosh Hashanah dinner. I'd like to bring something to express our gratitude, but I want to be respectful of any cultural norms that might restrict such a gesture. We're really looking forward to the celebration, and just want to thank our hosts--appropriately. Any advice anyone can offer is much appreciated.

If I were you, I would ask the hosts what you can bring or how you can help. They may not want you to bring anything, but at least you offered. If that's the case, bring some flowers for the lady of the house and just be sure to thank them for the invitation.

a bottle of wine is always nice.

food is iffy because they may be super kosher and in that case they might not even be able to bring non-kosher food into the house.

so I would say wine or flowers!
