It just seems to me that a steryotype can only be put into place if it was, at some point, true. Why are they considered so negitive, then? Obviously they don't hold true in every instance, but it seems like they do a vast majority of the time.

For example- It really seems like most irish people drink alot, and really like beer (not everyone, obviously.)

I'm a girl, and I'll say this- It really seems like most women are horrible drivers. Exceptions exist, of course.

See what I mean? What do you think?

Ok, so this guy knew I had a crush on him when I was a child. When that was the case, I'd always catch him staring at me out of the corner of his eye, so embarassing for me! We haven't seen each other in 10 years and now I look like a woman, ha, and he's look great too! He stopped me as I wasn't sure if it was him and we chatted for 30 minutes... and told me twice to email him sometime regarding if I ever needed a job. Now he also mentioned he's married, which is fine. But do you think it's just with maturity that he offered to help me with job findings even though he knew I used to crush hard on him? Is that strange or not a big deal?

I have met people that just seem to expect prejudice to be the cause of all their inconveniences. If they don't get a call, they say that the person didn't call because they are prejudice (never mind the other 5 people who didn't get a call either, and aren't of the same ethnicity). Or they automatically assume that you see a stereotype instead of a person and therefore make you feel uncomfortable for it (even when you haven't said or done anything). These individuals take everything personally. On first appearances to the non-prejudice people, they often appear to use it simply as an excuse. Keep in mind that the person asking is not prejudice of any ethnicity, but wants to find a better way of dealing with people who are like this.

The one common element that is ever increasion amongst Muslums is hatred of the west. Not that we don't deserve it with our belief that we should impose our world vision upon everbody who doesn't see things the way we (our politicians) think they should. What if they put aside our differences and united against the west? Doesn't the potential of a united, willing to die for their cause group of multiple countries with at least some Nuclear capabilities and millions upon millions of people pose a serious threat to us? Doesn't our arrogance and unwillingness to engage in diplomacy with major players such as Iran only add fuel to the fire?

I have heard different explanations why white people are referred to as "crackers", but does anyone know the true reason that reference was made and where did it come from?

Many of the racist people on here who "hate" black people and other minorities spend their time talking about nothing BUT black people and other minorities. I look on their profiles and 99% of their questions and answers are about the races they claim to hate. How come? If you hated someone, would you devote all of your time to them? It just doesnt make sense...

When someone makes a generalized comment about a particular race, people always respond with "don't generalize" etc. But isn't that hypocritical, not to mention impossible to ask someone not to generalize?

I mean, every decision we make is based on weighing the pros and cons on past experiences or observations. Those are all based on generalizations.

For example, if I choose not to eat at a certain restaurant I've visited in the past because the food was disgusting, am I generalizing? The food could be excellent today, however, based on my past experiences I decide not to go there anymore. This is how the human mind works.

When scientists test a new drug and find it works on 80% of patients, are they supposed to throw the drug away because it's considered generalizing to think this drug will work for someone ill just because 20% of people will not be cured by it?

Why are people such hypocrites?

I have dated a variety of men and although my typical type is blonde hair blue eyes I have never limited myself to a particular type because I do not feel that the outside really matters. We all become ugly and wrinkly right? so who really cares? Anyways back to my question: My mom disproves of me dating outside of my race and her rational is that if you decide to one day have children who are mixed they will be socially disadvantaged ,will not idenify with a race and will be teased. I tend to disagree with her, thinking (and hoping) that it is not that big of an issue today. I am not however, not biracial so I cannot assert an argument out of my own personal experience. So just curious one everyones thoughts, particularly if you are biracial

This has got to be the most backwards state in the country. The people who live here are, at leaste 50 years behind the times! The Black's still hate the White's and for the most part vise -versa it is insane. The people that are from here, and thats both races, move in reverse.
What is wrong with this picture?!!! I have lived all over the US and never seen anything, this bad!

The way the world is could be changed if we united, we could alter the government in any election if we could think for ourselves and vote outside of a 'check red or blue box' mentality.

The people that complain about the government and congress like it is some monster walking around destroying buildings, are the very ones that have a strong stance to only vote for one particular party, or don't vote at all. It seems weird that we still, as a nation, vote for the same two political systems for the past fifty years, when they have progressively shown nothing but concern for the top ten percent of society rather than the other nintey percent that work for the country.

My rant may fall on deaf ears, but the next time you vote or speak of the government, just think about what I have written here.

Do a write in, make an effort for change, or STFU about government today!

Who agrees?
