Like I read an American name Robert Fitzwald Gordon & many similar ones. Do they alter there names when they reach adolescence or its there parents who keep so complex names. Even I heard that many celebrities, like Madonna's original name is so different.
In other cultures, people usually prefer to use there ancestral surname. But I have come across americans who don't use even the surnames. I am very curious to know about this practise. Thanks

I feel this is similar to being racist. When i here black guys say that they only date light skinned girls, its very disturbing, because its almost like saying they prefer white girls. and its worst because we are the same race

I suppose i could ask this of any one outside of the U.S., however i will go with people from england.

Lets say i was in the Britain and someone asked me where i was from. If i said Utah or Mississippi or Ohio or Kansas or any state in the U.S., would they know exactly where i lived or would they have no idea? Basically, do people in England know the names and locations of the states in the U.S. or do they just focus on the overall country?

I am a 27 year old male. I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. I hate parties. Why do people today seem to be all about the party? All my friends on facebook have 90% of their pictures of them drinking at a party, dancing at a party. Girls on singles sites just want to party, and are looking for bad-boy party-hard guys. Everyone just wants to party. To me, parties are noisy, smokey, hurt my eardrums, and are full of scantily clad women who are just sexual teases. What the heck am I missing in this picture? Am I the only one not constantly partying? What ever happened to all the young adults that actually have eclectic, mature interests?

In Germany & Austria its illigal to be a Nazi, in Britain you can get arrested for speaking publicly on any subject considered to incite hate....is this denying free speach? The EU is considering making holocaust denial a crime despite some academics questioning the extent & evidence we are told to believe. Does the government in any country have the right to to dictate an individuals belief & censure a persons right to voice an opinion? Are we heading for a situation where we are only allowed to hold state santioned beliefs?

here is my story ten years a go I land here , as professional artist, then I became homeless ,I I was working two years volunteer, to help homeless and HIV people, but any times I try go to the community to have art show, or art class as teacher, or ask for support . I saw racism and discrimination from the white Canadian which they are own the almost every things here, from Government to local art gallery or art organization news paper or TV... why united nation do not ask from Canada to stop the racism? if Canadian is the immigrant country,

lets say if i were to say that in general i dont find black people or asians physcially attractive to me. does it make me a racist? or is it just like saying i like blondes but not brunettes?

When I watch American cartoon programmes like Family Guy and The Simpsons, they often poke fun at Canadians. They say they are slow-witted and they put them down seemingly just for existing. I don't know any Canadian programmes so I don't know if the reverse is true. I'm sure it's a terrible generalisation, but are there any historic reasons I am missing as to why some Americans seem to have it in for Canada and the Canadians.
