I am a 27 year old male. I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. I hate parties. Why do people today seem to be all about the party? All my friends on facebook have 90% of their pictures of them drinking at a party, dancing at a party. Girls on singles sites just want to party, and are looking for bad-boy party-hard guys. Everyone just wants to party. To me, parties are noisy, smokey, hurt my eardrums, and are full of scantily clad women who are just sexual teases. What the heck am I missing in this picture? Am I the only one not constantly partying? What ever happened to all the young adults that actually have eclectic, mature interests?

You might not be in an area with a high population of adults that have eclectic, mature interests. Party attitudes DO vary by demography and geography.

Partying has been "popular" for centuries. It's not a new thing.

You don't like drinking and all that, and that's okay. I, for example, hate shopping, TV shows, and pop culture. Everybody has their quirks and preferences. Yours are perfectly acceptable.

NOT for Random House Parties... I don't care for people just inviting themselves over. However, we DO throw 4-6 GOOD BBQ / Dinner parties on the ranch during the year - - Daytona 500 - Memorial Day BBQ - 4th of July BBQ - Labor Day BBQ - Thanksgiving - Christmas Dinner Yep, we're popular among friends.... and daughters are known for their every-other Thursday Pizza parties (we have a pizza oven outside) during the summers.

Since when does going to parties mean you are not eclectic or have mature interests. Don't assume that your interests are "mature interests" makes you seem self-obsessed. Back to the real issue, why do they like to do it? It's a social thing you meet people (which you haven't done a great job if you think all the women are "scantily clad women who are sexual teases" nice generality. In addition it's a great way to let off steam, some party, some exercise, to each their own. It's fine that you don't want to party and it's not your thing. I can respect that, and in time hopefully you will respect the fact that everyone makes their own decisions and it's naive and self-obsessed of you to degrade their choice. To each their own!

I agree. Partying is fun once in a while, but IMO it's exhausting. I usually have more fun watching a movie on DVD.

Hey if you don't like it, then that's great! Its your choice.

Maybe people party to get away from their ordinary life... especially drinking... when I used to drink I was the happiest guy in the room... everyone loved me... my shyness went away. I don't even notice the banging music. You can punch me in the face and it wouldn't hurt. All my stress and problems were gone.

Damn why did I stop drinking??? (well drinking is somewhat like taking drugs if you think about it)

I think your missing the big picture: Partying is popular and it will be till you die. Don't be a party pooper.

There can be both. Why put up pictures of studying and reading? Dull. Everything in moderation.
