What do you mean by "apply?" That rule was used when slavery was legal to ensure that as many people as possible remained subject to slavery. Given the huge number of black women who were raped or otherwise coerced into sex with white men and gave birth to lighter skinned children, the one drop rule was developed to counteract any claims by biracial children that they were "white," and therefore should be free.

Any application of that rule as a matter of law ended with the abolition of slavery, but many whites continued to subscribe to a taint theory of race for generations after. And ironically, the one drop rule forged a powerful sense of group idenitity among black Americans of all colors.

So the strict answer is that the one drop rule obviously does not apply in law. People are fairly free to self identify racially these days and, with some exceptions, the government won't second guess them. In terms of social custom, I'd say that most people racially categorize others on appearance, rather than racial heritage.

Also, very few people subscribe to the dated notion of racial "purity" anymore, though a good many whites still put some store in such notions. The term is a myth. All humans trace their ancestry to Africa, which begs the question of what is meant by racial purity.

People might perceive you as being a racist due to the fact that this question is truly irrelevant and you should probably occupy your time dealing with more advanced subjects than this trivial nonsense. There is no such thing as pure anything these days, so it does not matter. Read a book or something.

It is impossible for anyone to know, unless they have a full test, what their genetic makeup is. There are few people in the world, unless they live in an isolated community that can claim to be pure anything. Certainly nobody in the UK can make this claim.

Who cares? If you do some research you will find that scientists now say there is no such thing as race! People are people and we are all stuck here together on this spinning rock.....Unless you can find a way to stop it so all of the bigots can get off.

I'm pure! I'm 50% pure white and 50% pure black!
I don't give a damn what anyone else thinks. Oh and I don't have 'one drop of black blood', I have 50% black genes. That's the way it works buddy, everyone's blood is red.

My sister married a white dude and all of us love him, he's definitely one in all the kinfolk, so we no longer all like that. I actually do no longer care as long by way of fact the black woman I see a white dude with ain't my spouse, lol. there's a great sort of self-segregation interior the black community and an intolerance to outsiders. it extremely is stupid, yet to a great sort of black adult men, a black guy with a white woman is seen as a sort of justice: something he's taken from "the guy", jointly as a white guy with a black woman is seen as a antagonistic intrusion into the black community. Sorry to declare, however the black community struggles with progression too. the belief of "coloration-blindness" is something many black people assume of alternative races, yet experience no criminal accountability to stay as much as themselves.
