I feel that most of the indians take advantage of the situation of getting handouts from the government. Who else gets new vehicles, houses, money, etc. from the government without earning it. I think everyone should be treated the same. Doesn't matter what race, color of their skin, etc is. YES THE RESERVATIONS SHOULD BE ABOLISHED. What culture, there is very little time spent with elders teaching the young their culture, they are loosing their culture, unfortunately.

I think that those who choose to live on the reservation should do so WITHOUT any interference from the federal government, period. Those who wish to mingle, I think they should just fit into the white man's society just like everyone else. The native Americans have been abused too much already and too much is too much. We should all live in peace together as brothers and sisters and not even look at color, ethnic origins, disabilities, etc. We are all God's children and we can live together and help each other on this land that He let us use.

I would say if it was done under certain conditions. Like We are given 5 states and removed completely from the US governments rule. Then sure go ahead.
Some under educated person spoke of Native people taking government hand outs. Do you even understand what those so called hand outs are? Do some fact checking on what the government gives to the people of the reservations. Like substandard medical treatment, that we actually pay for out of tribal moneys, schools and teachers that receive less than 1/4 the funding of a non rez school, the ability to not be allowed to hunt on what is supposed to be our land, that by the way was previously used for toxic dumping, and as for vehicles and houses, what are you talking about? We buy our own cars and we build our own homes. The US government gives their garbage, left overs and unwanted crap to the Native tribes of the US, we are treated worse than the homeless, they are kind enough to allow the building of bars and liqueur stores as close as possible to our land, but never a grocery store or hospital.
So as a Native raised on a rez I personally would like to that the US government and those that support their decisions for the lack of education, the easily prevented diseases, destruction of culture, forced religions, restrictions on rights and general mistreatment of our people. Please continue the good work!

You know what I feel right now. I think we all are so arrogant when we talk of the natives and their reservations etc.
First we come and take over their country. Then we push them into reservations and change their life totally. We change their minds, their thinking, their traditions and culture and now you talk of abolishing their reservations.
White man is so arrogant.
Have you ever sat down with a native and actually discussed with them how they feel about their race almost being abolished or asking them to move into your kind of normal society?
Oh it hurts me to see this kind of a question. We are such violent people.

seem up the information "Sovereignty" and then re-examine available solutions on your questions. Tribal international locations are separate sovereign international locations, very such as Canada and Mexico. So, can they "flow to conflict with different tribes." In concept, definite. even though it has no longer been performed in cutting-edge circumstances, yet has been often in the previous (seem on the Iroquois/Ottawa conflicts in the late 1600s) Can they, "stay in a tipi." If that's what they wanted... specific. that's a form of shape. although, some tribes have intense cultural attachments to their homes including a Hogan for the Navajo u . s ., and the Longhouse for the Iroquois international locations. so as that's very distinctive (ie. you won't be able to easily build a church and contact it a holy place) "gown in classic clothing." definite, genuinely. Many nevertheless want this gown. however classic clothing selection from tribe to tribe. "talk their very own language." jointly as the numbers of fluent audio equipment in cutting-edge circumstances have been slowly reducing, modern-day language revitalization classes have been reversing this result. Many are nevertheless fluent and characteristic english as their 2nd language. seem up "language immersion classes" for various tribal languages and notice what you come across :)

I don't think so. They were here first, they are under no obligation to give up their culture or their history. If anything they deserve much more land and financial compensation for having been robbed. Our government signed binding treaties, promisses, with them, and broke them wantonly. They are totally entitled to keep their cultures and I hope they do.
