And no its not simply objectifying people.

Most people would like to get to know the girls.

And with things like wet t shirt, sexy dancing competitons...

Its the one whos most fun and having a laugh who normally wins

Its an advertising ploy, but think deeper...

If you see a car with a gorgeous girl on the bonnet, you think buy the car, get the girl.

So you buy the car, and get the girl.

Like fu ck would you then allow her to climb all over YOUR new car, "get off ya dozy biyatch, you'll scratch the paint work with your high heels!"

I think one of the sexism issues with this is more the scantilly clad women in bikinis to sell cars. It's not the issue of the woman herself but it leans towards an assumption that it's only men who buy cars and that women are not interested (not actually the case). Also, it kinda makes men look a bit stupid because it's really saying that they can make you buy any car, even if it's one you don't want, by making a woman sprawl over it with no clothes on. Also, does it not insult a mans inteligence - do they really think the man in question thinks the girl likes him and he has no clue that it's just to sell a car?
I know a guy would want to look at a beautiful girl with a great body, but can they really convinve him to part with, say, 30,000 just because she's wearing a bikini!
"I'm gonna buy my next car from Skoda and not Porche, because at Skoda there are girls there!"
I feel sorry for the guys, not the girls!

The explotation of women is not appropriate in todays society.
Being a art major I have seen this tastefully done and I have seen it just shy of pornography.
The bottom line is more men buy cars ,so if a scantly clad female is showing it a male thinks if he has that car he will get the women.
Same with the diet drinks or calenders which are geared to women show a male and the women will buy it.

It is just a stereotypical view in today's society that all men think about is sex, but sadly a lot of men live up to this belief.

I think it's disgusting using women for advertising markets, to try and sell things to the men who do think about sex non-stop. This in turn makes all women seem like nothing worthy of any other sort of interest apart from that of a sexual nature.

Women then can push to get male models on top of things advertised for them, but as women have been treated like objects in the past and present, why would they allow this to happen to men, just for advertisement sake?

Some good points: don't guys feel insulted that the press thinks they're so dumb they'd buy a car just cos a naked woman's standing next to it? I wouldn't buy one cos some ugly, stereotyped bloke was standing next to it with his clothes off. I'd just buy a car I liked.

Well.. people do this because they know that if they put a nice looking women on ANYTHING, men will buy it because that's all they think about...really is sexism on the mens side too... thinking all men will buy these things.

Put a picture of a naked woman on an ironing board cover.. and they ll do the ironing.

It is sexist, but towards men, because advertisers think that men are idiot enough to buy the product just because of the girl. ;-)
