less competition among straight men for women?

2007-06-27 06:35:52 · 15 answers · asked by Anonymous

Honestly, why does anyone think that someone would CHOOSE to put themselves in an alienated minority? I'm looking for an actual real answer here. Don't get me wrong, I'm gay and proud and I have nothing to be ashamed of, and I have no desire to be anything else. But looking from an outsiders perspective. Why would someone say, "hey that group is persecuted and mocked, where can I sign up"????? Or "hmmm, how can I narrow my dating pool down to only 10-15% of the population? I know I'll be gay!!" It makes no sense. It's not logical. I know, I'm about to get a lot of bigoted, bible quoting haters in here who are going to try to berate and belittle me and tell me I'm a demon but I don't care. If I can find one person who can give a succint and intelligent answer to this question, it would be worth it. But you can't because there isn't one. It all extends from prejudice and fear of the unknown and archaic religious beliefs that don't allow for scientific fact. We're born gay!!!

I have struggled with being gay all my life from early teens to my adult hood. I was teased because I am flaming ball of fire I don't know why I walk like that or have grille ways? But let me tell you I was Teased from grade school to high school It really hurt and I was damaged really bad people called me *** every day I went to school. I finely quit and had a nervous break down!! Luck was with me with my mother she was very supportive. My family was great about it all and I did have a few black friends manly grills tho.
I went to church for many answers and only found out that they hurt me to I could not be Gay and love God and he didn't love me so my self esteem was damaged so bad I turned to a life of addictions and buried my feelings about being Gay and it was bad but God did love I just didn't know it!!! I thought it might be better to be stright so I married a women and was marrired for 4 years I have two sons that I love verry much I was faithfull to her and did love her but I was always turning my head to the left to look at men and going to church at that time tring to be accpted by God I need God to love me I that was the only way I knew how to get him to love me!!!! I found my self hateing my self all together!!! I told my wife I needed to leave and I did just that.
Now I am married to a man. I love my self and found my spirit at the age of 34!!! And God does love me I found my sprit and live in peace with my self and God Iam even studing to be a minster in my faith. God is so Good and I am a good person and I now no one can take it away from me. I got to say I love my sons and get them every other weekend and every other hoilday and my husban and I are raiseing them and life is wonder full !!!!!

There seems to be quite a mix of bigots and just general run of the mill idiots on here today. Now I'll admit some of these people may really be trying to understand homosexuals but gee, some of the questions are just plain ignorant. So I find myself wondering, are these people born stupid or do they "turn" stupid at some point in their lives? Should the government be trying to make sure these people can't marry or adopt? Is there a danger that that they will turn their kids stupid at some point? What can we do to stop the idiot agenda?

Homosexuality is natural. Idiocy however, can be cured once we understand the disease.

For example, everytime someone asks:

Does it hurt?
Am I gay?
Is it a choice?
Is it a sin?

everyone at school thinks I am gay because i am not attracted to either sex yet. Please help cause its not just afew people, its a school of about 1200 people doing it (though only about 1000 are doing it). If i go anywhere near a kid in Y9+ i get hurt. Don't say tell a teacher because i have tried that. the kids i tell on stop for a few days while all the rest don't just do it when they see me.... They turn it into a man hunt for me. I used to have a few friends the helped but they all got hurt and i kept ditching them to protect them.
personally i think a need a bodyguard.

Everyday I come here ... and everyday I see narrow minded questions and answers ... people who slate other people for their beliefs and for their sexuality ... dont you think that people should be able to think and feel however they want to without being made to feel wrong or dirty? ... I am a 30 year old lesbian and have been subjected to so much abuse and narrow mindedness since I came out 13 years ago .. and when I see other people being slated and the unfeeling comments that some people make here it grates right on my nerves ... I guess I must be one of the few people here that think about how other people feel and will react to certain narrow minded comments ... people are who they are ... they are entitled to believe and feel what they want without being belittled for it ... and be subjected to homophobic and narrowmindedness ... come on guys this is the 21st century after all!!!!!!!!!

This is an honest and perhaps not a quick question. I would really like to know what pattern this is, if it's not a mixture. This box is too small for the full situation but this should make a good overview:

Me: Gay

Straight Guys:Immediately spot I'm gay, are fine with it, tease me and I tease them. Good relations.

Straight Girls:Incredible. You'd think I was a popstar. And that is from age 12 to age 70, from bank to beach to bus stop. What some ladies do in the supermarket to get to the same refrigerator at the same time as me would in any other situation be considered a circus act. I have no clue how or why I give the wrong signals.

Other fact:I flirt back. With a lot of fire and enthusiasm. 2, 3 times per day (Except if there is a chance of hurting). It's like in me.

Gay guys: A great void. If I'm already noticed, it seems my standards go through the roof, and i do not react. If a great guy comes up to me, I do not give any hint either. I'm told I'm very distant.

My gf and i have been together for 14 months, and at the moment things are amazing. we're both 24 and we've realised that in 5 years time we want very different things - she wants a family, I want to travel and have a career.

She's finished with her travelling and I'm only just beginning so this is something we can't seem to find common ground on. Also i am happy to have a family, but not for another 8-10 years.

What should i do? she seems to think we're doomed and that we should probably end it now and just be friends, but I dont know if i can give up the person I love the most in case things dont work out in 5 years.

I dont want to be selfish and keep her from doing what will make her happy.

Has anyone been in this situation before???

relationship. I don't know the details of why they went their separate ways, but they did. My girlfriend and I have been very close since we met 18 months ago; she was open from the beginning about the relationship, but not details on what happened. They didn't talk for awhile but email fairly frequently & privately ; recently she has been opening the door to visiting her friend again. My girlfirend is adamant that she was bi-curious and thinks women are beautiful, but does not want to pursue lesbian relationships in the future: with anyone. She has had 3 male relationships since, but they all ended badly. She is really special to me and we speak seriously of marrying in the next six months, but how real is "bi-curious" and does it really shut off for all eternity; how worried should I be about her staying in fairly close private contact with an old lover (male or female), and can her old girlfriend just become an old friend? I feel kinda left out in the cold about my feelings.

first of all, I am bisexual. I love men and I love women. I find that in many religions, homosexuality is forbidden. In Christianity, the bible specifically says that homosexuality is wrong. In islam, homosexuality is taboo. And mainly I find that people do not tend to accept people of different sexual orientation.
I do know that the younger generation is much more open to different sexual preferances than before. Even so, their parents and grandparents are just as prejudiced.
I just want to understand the thought behind the hate crimes and discrimination against homo/bisexuals in our society. It's not like we chose to be gay. It's not like we enjoy the negative attention we get.
What do you think about the role of homosexuals in society today?
