first of all, I am bisexual. I love men and I love women. I find that in many religions, homosexuality is forbidden. In Christianity, the bible specifically says that homosexuality is wrong. In islam, homosexuality is taboo. And mainly I find that people do not tend to accept people of different sexual orientation.
I do know that the younger generation is much more open to different sexual preferances than before. Even so, their parents and grandparents are just as prejudiced.
I just want to understand the thought behind the hate crimes and discrimination against homo/bisexuals in our society. It's not like we chose to be gay. It's not like we enjoy the negative attention we get.
What do you think about the role of homosexuals in society today?

okay, to shanhelp, it is idiotic to assume that homosexuality leads to std's a person with std's, no matter what they're sexual preference is, will give it to their partner if they don't practice safe sex. also, are you happy with your partner? So am I! the fact that we are unhappy is just moronic.

First thing First.Homosexuality is practiced by more than two dozens of living species including humans,So in a way it is a natural practice though on a reduced scale.Secondly, all humans are also the product of natural process ie procreation.Historically as well as scientifically speaking.homosexuality has its' origin and prevalence in the natural evolution of species including humans. What's take of any religion, local laws ,social acceptance and of other aspects on the issue is a altogether a different matter and has been debated since recorded history of the human race.Like many other controversial issues, the practice and acceptance of homosexuality would also resolve with passage of time.As of now,the role of homosexuals in the society appears to be,to under go the the pangs of transition with fortitude ,calm and HOPE.They were and are as GOOD or BAD as they make themselves to be.Lastly,I wish we could understand the fact that homosexuality is often not a matter of individual choice but a nature's play. And we all should learn to respect and accept NATURE.[I am, what is called -a straight]

for sure. bear in mind, in different international locations gay PDAs could desire to get you killed, so there's an prolonged way earlier some human beings can "recover from it" and punctiliously settle for homosexuality. I propose, campaigns for the rights of girls individuals and black human beings gained successes interior the previous, yet even 40 years after Anti-Discrimination regulations have been surpassed in places like Australia, some human beings nevertheless have their carry-united statesand proceed to unfold unfavorable stereotypes. i'm not asserting that being gay is erroneous (i fairly love everybody and am curiously an abomination to specific human beings's god mutually as concurrently being love by him no be counted what), I only propose that some persons are ******* obdurate and could stay of their techniques until eventually ultimately the day they die. so which you would be fortunate in case you be ready to legalise gay marriage and decriminalise gay relationships in different international locations earlier 2025. Sorry to be a moist blanket, yet yeah. If it weren't for those human beings and how they unfold such negativity, the whole worldwide does not care with regard to the genitalia of the individuals you kiss. xx

Sorry but is your main question here about the role of homosexuals in society today? as what? Do you mean what is our biological purpose? If that is what you meant there is an interesting article in 'Discover' magazine june2007 issue that addresses the possibility of gay genes and reasons why gay people have 'beaten the odds of not breeding ourselves--why we continue while it is obvious that we are not breeding more (as in a simple genetic case)'..There is nothing definitive but it is an interesting viewpoint.
If you just mean what is the problem with homosexuality in society. I have no problem with my homosexuality. If there is a problem somebody (straight) is having it. :)

First of all-you sound really cool, and I'd love to go out with you!! As far as I'm concerned the bible is pretty much a collection of tall tales-with impossible crap throughout. As for Christianity-those people don't have much to speak about-when Catholic priests are screwing little innocent boys!! I think that we should all be happy-regardless of what sex the person is.....after all-the real "person" is in the heart-not the pants!

I think they're just like any other people. Unfortunately, a lot of religious folk believe that an all-powerful, omnipotent God larger than the universe and everything in it apparently cares what we do in the privacy of our bedrooms.

Don't worry about it. Sooner or later the odler generaions will die of, and the majority of people will be accepting of homosexuality. It's no different from the feminist or black rights movements of the 60s.

"Role of homosexuals?"

Why should your sexuality translate into a social "role?"

Do what you want, but realize the rest of us just don't care and don't want to know that much about it.

TBH, you should be glad we don't care, your enemies are the people who do.

It's the homosexual ACTs that are frowned upon. You say it's not your fault you turn out gay, but it is your fault if you're too weak to resist it.
