I'm not really a greenie or an activist or anything, but I have been trying to do my part to not be wasteful, etc. Sometimes though, I'll be reading about all the crap you're not supposed to do or buy or wear or eat or WHATEVER. It's too much to handle. And it seems like people aren't happy unless you're doing ALL of these things.

Does anyone else agree?

I usually buy things to last which means a shock when it comes to replacing them. I've just treated myself to a new duvet, well 2 actually, summer plus spring/autumn equals winter. They cost me the same as I paid for one about 30 years ago, so I'm feeling a bit chuffed. I know back then duvets were a luxury item, and not many people had them.

I can think of another - computers, I bought my first one about 20 years ago for about £1000. That was before the days of internet and all the extras that are included now.

Now I'm waiting for the all singing, dancing TV's to come down in price before we go digital, and preferably before the current one packs up.

So, what pleasant surprises have you come across?

Why is it that most every black female in show business NEVER has ******* features? (only exception is Whoopi Goldberg)..why is this??? most of them look like white people, with darker skin..............Beyonce, Vanessa Williams, Queen Latifah, and the list goes on............

it's not fair, I'm gonna be 20 next year, I'm about to be a college sophmore, I can't seem to fit in with the college party crowd, well I go to a community college, where there are no dorms or fraternitires or sororities, but I see people who get invited to parties by people from 4-year universities like San Diego State, UC Santa Barbara, all the Arizona Schools, & those people go to community colleges like me, even the one I go to, that is not even nearby those schools, I've been struggling to become more social, it's hard for me to make friends in community college because you don't see the same people everyday, people have different schedules. I'm half-white, half-mexican, but I look white & act white, but I seem to become friends with mexicans very easily & I struggle to become friends with white people, I wanna become friends with because I see that they have more fun, is not everyone meant to party?, cause thats what I've heard, or maybe God doesn't want me to party.

I have heard figures around 2.2 million American persons currently in prison in this country and wondered if the numbers went up because of children that were born in the 1970s. I heard in 1972 that the number of people in prison was 150,000 or 300,000 and that now in 2007 it is 2.2 million. But I wonder if the majority or a substantial number of people currently in prison were children born in the 1970s. I say that because I can remember being in high school and middle school in the 1980s and how some the kids (all of them 70s born) had behaviour problems with other students, teachers and parents. I can also remember some of the fights and arguments and scuffles these 70s children had with one another and wondered how are they going to cope in the outside world. Does anyone have a clue?

i often wondered the last few years if my daughter was a bit different but i wanted her to come to me and tell me but she didnt. i was on her my space and noticed that she said she was BI Sexual in her personal information... so i had to ask her "darlin are you gay"and she said yes but she liked guys too... the only thing i said was UGGGGGGGGGGGG well now im not going to have any grand kids now am I . and she said yes i still might have kids...
then i started thinking about it later and just wanted to cry... i have already been a failier in my familys eyes due to a bad first marrage and now my son is in jail for taking the blame for something he didnt do and my daughter is gay...
god , why me... is all i could think of ... what did i do to deserve this? all i wanted to do was have smart healthy kids and a good marrage,BAM i was shot down in everything. both my kids are smart but do stupid things and my marrage ended due to my first husband being a stinking child molester. WHY ME

it does not matter where you are from but anyways...illegal immigrants and blacks have same job values...they seem to take low wage jobs..why is that.....this questions is not for hispanic americans or white americans....but illegals right out of where they are illegally from and blacks in america....i feel that they are the same because people see them as low workers...this troubles me because then if this is the case america is still racists to blacks and illegal immigrants who do not speak proper english...what do we do..

So why should I make a big deal about it?

I certianly could not care less what somebody else wants or desires. That's between them and the people they associate with.

i will be travelling to canada for my second year of moecular biology degree.I currently live in england . I am of mixed race , ( black and white) but i tend to think of my self as being black . I should have explained. I am 56, don't drive, have a 20 yr. old learning disabled daughter, don't drive. currently live in a city of 120,000 people, no friends, do not have a religious background, extended family refuses to help and my daughter and I are scared to death that my husband will not let us leave. now, does anyone have any different ideas? thanks.

I work at an independent living facilty with seniors age 65+. I am the activities director and I am trying to think of ideas to start up a group or club that meets about twice a month. I came up with a name of "Silver Angels." I would like the group to do small deeds for the community but at a low cost. We are a non-profit organization so I am trying to stay within a small budget. If anyone has any suggestions as to what the "Silver Angels" mission should be, please leave me a comment. I'm trying to start up a new group and I'm just not sure about how to go about it.
