Well, to begin with, it would involve following the US Constitution, which says that ALL citizens should have the same rights.

What are the ramifications of following the Constitution? Slight.
What are the ramifications of NOT following the Constitution? Chaos, and state-sponsored discrimination.

The USA would live up to its ideals as the place of equal opportunity. Until then, we'll still fall short of our ideals.

The religious vomit outrage industry would go into over-drive until they realized they lost their battle against freedom (again) and they'd move onto more important things: helping the poor? No. Healing the sick? No.

No doubt it will be that some cartoon character is also gay.

A lot of people will be a lot happier with their rights as citizens, and as human beings. Insurance companies will be unhappy. Conservative religiious groups will be unhappy. Oh, and all of those conservative Christian leaders whose marriages apparantly depend on Gay citizens not being able to marry will see their marriages fail.

As for me personally? I will be one thrilled stratight guy. Of course that's because I realize that the only people that can endanger my marriage of 28 years are me and my wife.

Bob T: Let's see that research you mention. But please, let's see some real unbiased research, not some report from far right Christian groups.

Probably a lot of same gender divorce! I think some of the positive results would be seen in things like estate planning, shared health care, etc. My partner is traveling today. If she was in an accident (god forbid), I wouldn't be able to see her in ICU! Those are the types of rights we want.

Gays would be able to get medical benefits from corporations instead of paying for it themselves. Once we can marry, we can get the benefits from our partners workplace medical plan.

Everyone has the same and equal rights now. Saying that gays don't get equal treatment under the law is like saying the rich don't get equal treatment because they can't get welfare benefits.

No one will stop a gay person from getting married, or filing a will, living will, or durable power of attorney. No one will stop gays from jointly owning their home or other property.

The government should not be in the business of regulating marriages. That's the business of the two people getting married.

Do you mean same sex or same gender? They are not the same thing. Gender is masculinity and femininity (the way you act/hold yourself). Sex is male or female (what's between your legs). Someone can be a passable male-to-female transgender and marry a biological woman because the male-to-female is still listed as a male on the birth certficate even if the said person appears to all as a woman.

That being said....

What do you mean by "ramifications"? Financially? Socially?

not really sure why i have gotten so many negative ratings!

sex and gender are not the same thing!
btw, i completely support same same or same gender marriage. if two people love each other, let them marry! it's a legal issue not a religious one, and that's what most people make it out to be.
