I am doing a report.
I would like to get examples of discrimination.
I mean:
1 Specifically, what prompted the discrimination (besides you being black)?
2 What was the situation?
3 Where did it happen (city & state)?
4 When did it happen? I am doing a report about RECENT acts, so please do not respond about what happened in the 60s (not that it is not important--please don't misunderstand me--just that my report is about incidences of bigotry AFTER the year 2000.)
5 What did you DO about it? Did you call the police?
If so, what did THEY do about it? Were the parties involved properly prosecuted?
If not, why do you think they were not?
Also, sorry, this report DOES NOT INCLUDE acts of police brutality--again, not that it is not important, just not what this report is about (why? because I am writing about COMING into conflict, not incidents where there is already a conflict, such as an arrest).
6 Did media properly report on it?

The water corps, with the goal of getting fresh drinkible water to everyone in the world sustainibly.
The food corps, with the goal of distributing enough food for everyone in the world to have a healthy diet while using land sustainibly.
The medical corps, with the goal of initially providing basic healthcare for everyone in the world and the eventual goal of providing the highest quality healthcare to everyone.
The shelter corps, with the goal of providing ways for people to get clothes and shelters
sustainibly.
The diplomatic corps, with the sole goal of improving diplomatic relations between all nations and groups without agenda or bias.
The enviromental corps, with the goal of catologing every species on earth and every natural habitat and preserving them forever, and working towards making human civilization enviromentally as friendly as possible.
They, of course, would set up things so people would do for these things independently wherever possible.

The fund raiser is for a local children's hospital here in Portland, Maine. The event is co-sponsored with the hospital and a local radio station. To be honest, I want to raise the most money! I've talked to Wal-Mart and a couple of local supermarkets about soliciting in front of their stores. I don't have the time to set much up. Any ideas, no matter how whacky, will be most appreciated. We are part of an all volunteer ministry that helps people in need in the Southeastern corner of Appalachia. There are some local groups of helping agencies but most are not ministries and not volunteer based. It would be good to talk to other ministries doing something similar in other places.

i just don't understand how celebrities can spend millions of dollars on hair and make-up and outfits for big events, but can't even spare a few hundred dollars for charities or someone that really needs help. if they are going to spend heaps of money and time on a huge televisioned extraveganza coudn't they maybe cut back on lights or the unnessesary extras so that they could use some of the money to give some people a once in a lifetime experience, maybe we could help poeple see it, that would make a special but unfortunate someone extatic!! can you imagine the faces brightened, people smiling ear to ear, i think that is better than money, a sad child smiling is worth so much, i think we need to convince celebrities to use their power for good and to help the world because THEY CAN!! if i had that power i would use every bit of it to help anyone who needs it. please help! how can we do this??

IF anyone has stayed ina homeless shelter please answer these questions for me?

Understanding that being in a shelter is the the most popular place ot live, what did you find GOOD or DECENT about where you lived? (the spcae, sleeping arraingments, customer service, services/programs offered, etc.)

What did you find BAD about the shelter?

Wht services, arraingments, programs, etc. would you like to see in a homeless shelter/program?

Are you male or female?
Children? YES OR NO?

If you had children int the shelter withyou what did you find helpful to you in helping your children make the transition?
What services were provided to your child(ren) that you found HELPFUL and NOT SO HELFUL?
