Community Service

I am a kid who just wants to do a little good. It would be wonderful if anyone who knew could share some good volunteering opportunities. I would be much obliged.

We have a club called Key Club at our school and we do community service projects. The year's almost over and we barely did anything this year so now we actually want to do something and raise money for an orphanage. What are some creative ways to raise the money? We're not allowed to sell candy because it's unhealthy and we're not in charge of dances, pep rallies, or such, either...that's StuCo's job.

And being under 16. I don't want a place that will put the animals to sleep if nobody claims them. I just want to be able to play with the dogs and brush/feed/love them for a few hours a day. Also, would that count as community service when I need to apply for college?

i live in san diego and am a fulltime student but have open weekends and many hours during the day open .. i email volunteer organizations but rarely get emails back .. i want to help out in any way that i can .. i'm mostly interested in fighting poverty along with other things such as abuse etc. are there any organizations that i could directly volunteer for ? i dont care about pay .. i would like to make a difference tho in any way that i can .. is any one else in the san diego area interested in this ? i dont know what to do but theres so much food going to waste at my school and i'd love to take it to the border or honestly do anything .. if anyone is apart of an organization and would like help or if anyone knows of a very good one and has there number please post it here .. thanks !

I am the teacher of an after school art club at a middle school. It's a public school, so 90% of art supplies comes from my own home and the money comes from my pocket.

I also don't get paid for doing it.

I adore my students, and I would love it if they could get a good art education. Art club is the only one they get in school-- there is no money for actual art classes, which is really sad.

Is there a way I can get places like Jo-ann's or Michaels to donate old art supplies?

What else can I do?

I am in Los Angeles.

A friend of mine is in need of a vehicle but cannot afford one. She is 23 years old and has 3 children- twin sons age 6, and a 5 month old daughter. When she was 17 years old, she was raped and 9 months later, her boys were born. Anyways, she needs a car so that she can go back to work, as well as take her sons to school. She cannot afford a car because 2 months ago, her apartment was set on fire by her ex, and she lost everything. All her money went toward replacing her stuff and getting a new place. Anyone know of any charities that would help her aquire a vehicle?

I made 1200 chocolate chip cookies on the weekend as a fundraiser for a girl in my community who is quite ill and needs special treatment. What's a fair price? They're made with LOTS of chocolate, are fairly big, and at the risk of sounding arrogant, have become quite popular as they are very good. My donation is my time and ingredients, but I felt I could make a more substantial by turning that $50.00 into much more. What would you pay? Fifty cents each, 3 for a dollar? More, less?
