The garbage truck in my neighborhood is always leaking this slimy, stinky liquid. I'm wondering what it is and is it harmful to the environment?

They leak because the garbage is getting smashed down and the juices in the garbage spill out . It could be germy not harmful unless it is a chemical someone put in the garbage then it would be bad .

It is called "Leachate", and it's all the cool goo-ey stuff that we throw out, It's NOT TOXIC, it's mostly Household waste, it's not dumping enough of it to hurt anything, whats leaking out of the dump is another question, unless it is incinerated
