There are many office positions that count as community service at places such as American Red Cross, United Way, etc. Being a mentor to a child is also community service (Big Brothers Big Sisters of America). You can help build houses with Habitat for Humanity--no experience required.

Theres a charity that will allow you to pay off your community service
hours my brother and a friend used them how it works is if you have 8
hours it equals $80.00 you can make a donation threw there website and
they send you out your paperwork, however I don't know if there hours have went up far as community service but the last time we check it was between $10.00 to $12.00 an hour we looked into this charity first before
making a donation to make sure they were legal and yes indeed they are a
501c3 nonprofit charity they are called Uplifting Kids they are a charity
my brother was soooo happy because it kept him from going to jail, the
courts was not trying to offer him an extention so he paid them off he
emailed and called them and someone got back to him right away he needed
this paper from the charity like asap and they charged him for the
overnight which between 40.00 and 45.00 dollars and an expedited charge of
$50.00 , they did a professional letterhead and sent it out to him, he was
toooo happy and he took the paper to the courts and everything was ok they
are also court approved all over the world I couldnt be more pleased with
this charity they saved my brothers and his friends freedom from going to
jail, they also have alot of other programs if you can't afford to pay the
hours off you can do a fundraise you can reach them by via email at
email@upliftingkids.org and also by phone at 1-855-581-9111 and there
website is www.upliftingkids.org call them they can help you and if you
need a professional letterhead urgent then let them know, I wouldn't try
theses other places online they are not legit this is the only one i could
find for my brother that is legit and not a scam and they followed threw
with a tracking number and we signed for the document so check them out
however you can't get no refunds if you decide not to go with them. They
are doing great things for people all over the world and kids. Check them
out they are even open late hours they help with court community service
and also school community service as well, you can also do a fundraise for
your hours they have alot of pretty cool programs they are great oh not to mention they are also on the Irs website as well to verify this charity.
Don't call them unless you are serious about paying off your hours right away because the Ceo is a very busy lady, but she is very nice and will do anything to help anyone in need of help they are open pretty late on the weekends and the weekdays.

I would suggest that you contact your local volunteer center. They specialize in connecting you with volunteer opportunities that match your interest and meet real community needs. These projects can be one-time, short-term, and long-term.
There are many different ways you can perform service. At our local cat shelter, the volunteer activities revovle around just petting and grooming the cats. At other projects, we work with helping disabled people regain their motor skills by working with horses.
If you have a choice you might want to check with your volunteer center for appropriate non-profit organizations that will still give you appropriate credit for either school, court, or whatever it is that you need the hours for.

They provide great referral services and can tell you what to expect from various non-profit agencies. In addition, most of the time, they can provide you with appropriate paperwork that you will need for school, court, etc.
Good luck!

How about asking them if you could walk the dogs, I know that North Shore Animal League always needs people to take the dogs out for a walk, and they don't have enough hands to do it. Fill the dog dishes with there food. not everything at a shelter has to do with cleaning up.

Food kitchen, Gleaners Food Bank, YMCA volunteer, Assisted Living Center (reading, keeping company).
My son helps out at the animal shelter, jobs vary, but he mostly cleans up the cat cages and gives cat's their medicine. He likes animals, and has been helping out once a week for about a year.

It's not an easy task. Follow the rules of their diet and cleaniness and it won't bother you much. But be careful that you are dealing with an animal which doesn't communicate like we humans do.

Go down to your local fire station. Most FD's allow community service to be worked off at the station.
